Leader of Leina Tower Anthousa
Anthousa is very much "one of the people." She often walks amongst the trees, through the winding streets and pathways of Leviathalas, strolling through the abora. She greets people by name as she goes, taking a personal interest in their daily lives. Beneath that, however, she is absolutely dedicated to the ideals and defense of Leviathalas, willing to lay down her life if necessary to protect her adoptive home.
Lately there is almost a sadness beneath her calm exterior, she is troubled by the growing pestilence in the Nessian Wood and the continued occupation of the city by Draconians who show no deference toward the Leviathalan way of life. She does not wish for another war, but will not allow her people to be unprepared for one should it happen. She takes a personal interest in the training and education of the arkulli to ensure that Leviathalas always has her best defenders ready for anything.
History:
After a storm shook Leviathalas, taking down centuries-old trees, Karametra chastised Keranos for his selfishness. Furious at her impudence, Keranos sent a storm of truly epic proportions to destroy the crops, snap the branches from the young trees, and force the people to huddle indoors.
Young Anthousa had been hunting and was caught in the deluge. Knowing she was Karametra's favorite, Keranos sent a bolt of lightning down from Nyx. It struck the grave of a titan, buried for countless centuries under the earth. The ground rose before Anthousa, uprooting trees as frightened birds fled into the stormy sky. An earth-titan, easily thirty feet tall, rose from his primordial resting place. Grabbing the trunk of a broken tree, he swung wildly at the young warrior. Anthousa narrowly escaped, and the titan gave chase. Nylea saw the scars on the face of her forest and raised vines to clutch at the titan's legs. Turning back, Anthousa saw the titan stumble. Quick as a deer, she used the vines to scale up to his shoulder as he struggled to get free. Anthousa sought the soft flesh just below the titan's ear.
Calling out to Karametra, she drove her dagger deep into the flesh. Hearing her daughter's plea, Karametra enchanted Anthousa, giving her the preternatural strength needed to cleave the titan's head from his body. The severed head fell to the ground, where it sunk halfway into storm-soaked earth. There the skull lies to this day, the home of foxes that shelter in the great cave of his mouth.
Currently:
The leader of the Leina Tower is Anthousa (NG Human). Anthousa is a former adventurer who has grudgingly taken on a leadership role following a vision from Karametra. She is a contradiction, spending her mornings drilling her soldiers for combat and afternoons reading to the orphaned children of Leviathalas. She oversees the learning of all of the "Little Bears" and takes this role seriously.
