Toku Kazehime
Toku Kazehime spent her childhood in her clan’s home but left to study in the Hida Bushi school near the wall. After completing her training and returning home, she began reading the notebooks on her ancestor Toku Kazeko, namesake and wife of their clans founder, and became more and more disturbed over the sway the neighboring Scorpion clan held over her own beloved Monkey. Convinced that her clan was losing its way, she continued to read and study the notebooks while publicly siding with the abolitionists and taking a stand against the unjust treatment of the heimin and burakumin.
When war broke out, she approached the underground resistance and agreed to work as a double agent. Having convinced the Scorpion that she could be trusted, she traveled to Heiwatoshi to “spy” for them, while actually reporting to Daidoji Sumiko and following her orders. Unbeknownst to Sumiko and the rest of Kazehime’s Northern allies, however, the Scorpion commanders have a secret of Kazehime’s that she is terrified of getting out.
While Kazehime was studying her ancestor’s notebooks, she stumbled across a stash of hidden scrolls containing forbidden, blasphemous information regarding the Kolat her and Toku Kazeko’s apparent involvement with them. During her torture and interrogation by the Scorpion, the only way Kazehime was able to convince them of her loyality to the South in spite of her known sympathies was by letting some of this information slip, and she lives in terror of the day that this information gets out and is used against her and her family.

Toku Kazehime is relatively short in stature but slightly broad and muscular through her Hida training. She keeps her hair cropped short and pinned up. She has a calm but serious face with plain brown hair and eyes, and while she is often kind she rarely smiles.
