Splitsbonn
Splitsbonn facilitates trade between the Wolf and the Dragon - and the Dragon have made sure that the city also serves as the abrupt end to Wolf influence in their lands with massive walls, sturdy gates, and hidden river chains to stymie the Wolf river raiding.
The rich and unique minerals of the nearby hills have turned Splitsbonn into a prosperous mining town alongside its success as a trading hub. Splitsbonn also serves as a base of operations for explorers wishing to make it big in the northern forests and hills of the Dragon lands.
Splitsbonn is not without its secrets. What is known to precious few outside a small circle of Dragon traders and lords is that the Trunk River has other splits that dive underground and travel miles before resurfacing and joining runoff streams to make the other tributaries of the Norlegg and Surlegg Rivers. Not only do the underground passages allow for shipping up and down the subterranean rivers, they are also rich with the mineral wealth that is part of the bounty of the Dragon lands.
The underground tunnels have been widened, through natural wearing and persistent carving, to accommodate small fleets of barges and transport craft capable of ferrying goods and personnel quickly and quietly across the Dragon lands.
To an outside observer, it can seem like whole shipments or regiments vanish out of thin air, or appear without warning as though conjured from the aether. This sleight-of-hand trickery does nothing to improve the unsettling nature of travelling in Dragon lands, as unsuspecting visitors might wake up in the night to find themselves under a very different field of stars that twinkle in a multitude of colors.
