To the rest of the Sjonderwold, the Dragon clan are nearly monsters , bearing from strange and twisted lands and gifted with unnerving powers. Treated with tremendous suspicion because of their history and rumored abilities, Dragon clan are rare beyond their borders and find it hard to hide when they do stray.   Adding to the strangeness is the fact that there are more giantfolkamongst the Dragon than in any other clan, and they are more open and of more variety than anywhere else in the Sjonderwold.   This ostracization does not bother the Dragon overmuch; while the average Dragon clan farmer or tradesman is little different from their counterparts in the other clans, they value privacy and self-sufficiency above all else.  

Self-Sufficiency and Independence

Each Dragon is expected to be able to support themselves with the resources they can find, and thrive as soon as they can satisfy their base needs. Thus, when Dragons come together, as in marriage and in war, their combined abilities and resources can be far greater than their parts. The powerful warriors and lords are said to take on a more fearsome presence when needed, but no one has been close enough to confirm this.   Despite having demonstrated access to technological and magical advances beyond that of even the Wolf and Owl clans, and the fact that their claimed territory is rich in defensible positions and natural resources, the Dragon clan have so far shown little interest in expanding beyond their borders, a fact which perplexes Wolf military strategists.   Bizarrely, the Dragon clan seem to be in a perpetual state of vigilance. Watchtowers and mobilization drills are common, and stranger still is the widespread incorporation of observatories, orreries, and simple stargazing into everyday Dragon life. Even within Dragon clan, the reason behind such vigilance and watchfulness is not widely known.
