First Ruler of the Skies or First Pirate King

Pirate King

"_" was the first unrivaled, uncontested leader of all of pirate/outlaw/underground society. Therefore he is known as the first "official" Pirate King. There were others before him but none entirely acknowledged before him. He first rose to power during a great conflict. With his actions he completely altered the outcome of the conflict and the world.
The official title was "Ruler of the Skies" but since that was a mouthful, people shortened it to "Pirate King".
Tales say that he wore a red captain's coat, a fancy hat, nice sash, and wielded both sword and pistol. That no one who wasn't on his side who saw them, lived. Rumors abound that he was distantly related to the Lost Kingdom's royal line. A second cousin or some such relation.
In truth, they were from the main line. Second or at least pretty close in line to inheriting the throne. They got angry at their family's and country's inaction to a foreign conflict. Eventually choosing to leave to do something concrete about it. Became a sort of privateer against the aggressors. Then rallied others to do so as well. Their actions rapidly expanded and developed pirate society. Laying the foundations for what it is in present time. This force quickly tipped the balance of the conflict until they were victorious. The Lost Kingdom gained power, influence, revenue, and resources due to his actions. It shunted the kingdom into becoming a super power in the known world.
Time passed and "_" discovered the world and themselves away from the rigidity of nobility. Discovered that they were really (e.g. identified as) female. Time passes, events happen, and eventually the King of the Lost Kingdom passed. This threw the kingdom into a panic over with their sudden lack of a leader. "_" returned and took up the reigns. She took care of his remaining family, which included his young children. Made sure that everyone treated her with all due respect. She took action so that the populous believed that the two were completely separate people. Those who knew suppressed the information as well. This gave rise to history stating that the king's younger sister ruled after his passing. This belief continues unchallenged into the future.
