Lost Kingdom

The Lost Kingdom was once the shining jewel of the Known World. It's land was fertile, its people prosperous, and businesses booming. The Lost Kingdom was the most powerful state in the Known World. Then suddenly, in a single horrible day, the entire continent plummeted into The Deep. Not many citizens were able to evacuate in time, leading the survivors to scatter about the world.
The Kingdom's main resource was the numerous, large deposits of Skyglass. With their discovery, it gave the Kingdom the edge regarding flight and airships, other technology, and Skyglass itself. It was regarded as the foremost region in the Know World when it came to Skyglass and Skyships.
The royal family ruled over the Kingdom, advised by their Council and Court. The Court were noble landowners, vassals who governed a region in place of the royal family. These positions were inherited by the same families for generations customarily. It was possible, however exceptionally rare, for a new family to be bestowed the status and granted all the authority therein. These family were all noble houses of some kind. The Council were the main advisors for the royal family. Unlike the Court, Councilors were not required to have come from nobility.
The populous of the Lost Kingdom were hardworking and generally cheerful people. The public, including the lower classes, profited from the nation's prosperity. There was a sense of security and the idea that one could possibly advance their station in life.
The royal line of the Lost Kingdom had a special ability. They are able to sense and even manipulate the energy of Skyglass. It has grown stronger as generations pass. This ability has been kept a secret by the royal family since the beginning of their rule. Because of this secret ability, the royal family placed extreme significance on self-discipline and caution. Especially regarding sex. This is not to say there weren't any bastards, but that the number of them were very low compared to other nobility.
It is rumored that the First Ruler of the Skies or First Pirate King was related to the Kingdom's royal family.
