Thornbrush

As I sit here, it has become prudent to me that I also provide information on the dangerous plants of the forest. I call them the Thornbrush, and as far as I have seen, there are two varieties.   One is deep red, and has huge, thin, spiky red thorns that can grow up to two feet long. They are extremely dense and I have yet to cut through one of these plants. Their main body is think and rope-like, and they grow in large brambles at the base of the forest floor. Perhaps they provide shelter for some of the smaller animals? Seems dangerous, as the tips of the thorns ooze with poison. Perhaps the thorns are protecting a much more vulnerable body that is different still from the main vines. It is unclear where they get their nutrients - are they carnivorous? Or do they undergo photosynthesis? I cannot identify what they would use to go through either of those processes.   The other genus of the Thornbrush, equally dangerous and deadly, is a deep forest green, and is located in the canopy. I am currently incapable of climbing trees to observe it more closely, but it seems that they dangle thorny vines from the ground that can be lost quite easily in the rest of one's surroundings. Once one walks into these vines, they are latched onto and taken up into the canopy to be digested. I have narrowly avoided this fate myself three separate times.

Perhaps related to a genus of Dragonsnare??

I believe the individual vines/rope sections can be the size of a large snake - twenty feet, in all?
