Ardan was the Hero of Numidia, and worked under the King knows as Lord Fereth.
Ardan was born and raised in Numidia on a small farm on the outskirts of the city lines and was soon brought to the castle to train and hone his special powers for caslte defense as their most prized soldier.
He soon became unknwittingly entangled with Matthias and the Twilight guild, leading to his eventual death.

Ardan has never left his home kingdom Numidia!
His parents were farmers who worked in the fields to harvest pomegranites! Among other crops
Ardans powers manifested somewhat late, he was about nine or ten, in a wonderous burst of light while he was out working in the fields.
He was immedietly taken into the Kingdom of Numidia, which he lived about an hour away, and was sent into rigourous testing to determine the ability.
He was determined to be a very strong fighter and an extremely gifted hero.
He grew up surrounded by many soldiers and befriended quite a few, leading them into numerous battles to secure Numidias border and create propaganda for the provence.
He made a close friend who was also brought in for their exeptional swordsmanship, Kieth. And he helped to mentor Ardan for much of his young life. he made frequent visits to his family, but was also not allowed in any meetings with the king.
When he was 20, he led a battle to help stop a border skirmish and push back a small town that had crept over into their territory. On the kings orders, Ardan watched his comrades slaughter families, children, fathers, and mothers, and then set fire to the village while the rest of the survivors ran away in fear. It was at this moment that a small (somewhat large) seed of doubt began to creep into his mind about where his loyalties lay. He wanted peace for his kingdom, but at the cost of childrens lives was not what he had wanted.
being such a strict person he really struggled with disobeying his kingdom, his people, until he got into a scuffle with Matthias and the twilights deep in the city. He was left fascinated by his looks, his plain disdain for the orderly, the king, him, even.
He felt pretty stuck, like he didnt have a choice except to continue doing King Fereths bidding and killing so many innocent people in the name of peace and prosperity for his people.
He ended up attempting to seek out Matthias more and more, just to figure out how Matthias is able to defy such simple rules and ideas so easily.

They were enemies at first, since Ardan is captian of the very Palace that Matthias has sought to destroy. It began with a small fight which ended in fascination and intrigue on both sides, which ended up with Ardan disobeying rules (for the first time ever) to try to find him Ardan spent alot of time trying to convince Fereth that his search for Matthias and the Twilight guild have been fruitless, even though they are a direct threat to the kingdom Matthias and Ardan spend more time with each other, both trying to keep their affections a secret from their organizations Matthiases focus to bring down the kingdom and his love for Ardan leave him stuck between to vital choices. Revenge or love. He chooses revenge.
