Blessed Elf

Written by Drackzahn and Goldie

We are blessed by our godddess and living in her holy land. It is impossible that humans will ever conquer even one of our cities here. The money should be better invested into the new temple for Sylvia.
— High Priest of the Blessed Elves during the War of the Gods
The blessed elves are also known as "High Elves". They are in general a bit taller than other Sylvan Elves and it is said they are one of the most elegant beings on Bardor. Among all ethnicities, they are the most numerous of all. Their white, perfect skin and blue or green eyes give them an aura of purity towards most other sylvan elves. They named themselves after the area they live in and many of them see themselves as the chosen ones of their goddess Sylvia.

Culture

Shared customary codes and values

Faithful Lives
My faith is as endless as Sylvias Stream. I know that our goddess is alive and watching over us. We are never without her protection and love.
— Wandering Priestess of Sylvia
With the Blessed Seat of Syl in their core population region, many blessed elves are faithful in their belief in Sylvia and the other gods of the elven pantheon. They pray regularly to their gods and follow their dogmas. It is tradition for every blessed elf to travel towards a holy place at least once in their lives to be closer to their goddess. Blessed elves often build temples or small shrines in their towns and villages or decorate their homes with symbols of faith.
Tradion over Progress
Why should I use this complex machine with bolts, gears, and metal if my bow does the same job but is maintainable by myself? I see no value in it. My bow technique is millennia old and refined by my ancestors. I will not let it die out.
— Blessed Elf soldier
Most blessed elves are strong in their traditions and values. They are dogmatic and rarely pragmatic thinkers. This is as much their strength as it can be their weakness. Their civilizations and societies are unbelievably stable and robust as things like big changes or revolutions are not wished by them. Progress only flows slowly into their lives. A family of woodcutters will maintain their forest with utter care, as they know that they should not waste it for short-lived progress or profit.
Farmers
This land already fed my ancestors thousands of years ago and it will feed my children's children as well.
— Farmer of Syl
Farming and Woodranger traditions are strong in their societies. Many live on a small piece of land that their family has cultivated for centuries. The big forests in their core population regions of the Blessed Nation of Syl are maintained by skilled families of rangers and foresters that have done this already for millennia. These families of farmers, foresters, rangers, and animal caretakers have traditions for their work that were laid by their ancestors thousands of years ago. Most blessed elves work in the agricultural industries.

Major organizations

The blessed elves make up the majority of the population of the Blessed Nation of Syl. They sit in most of the important positions of power and even the queen of the nation was always a blessed elf throughout its history. The Nation is the powerhouse of the Sylvan Lands.
