A demihuman is a broad term used in many nations of
Earth to group together all the species that are resembling humans and are similar in their genetic code. Depending on the area, the exact borders of demihuman change, but some general differentiations can be made.
In general, people will call you a demihuman if you are not exactly a human but still very similar.
Cat-Humans for example look very similar to humans, but have cat-like characteristics and look in certain areas. Still, they behave and act similarly to humans and are fully compatible with them in any way. That makes them demihumans. In general, nearly all subspecies of
Humans can be called demihumans.
As soon as the look differs too heavily from a typical human, the grouping becomes difficult. Is an
Anthro or a
Furry still a human? Some argue that they still look similar enough, while others say that a human with fur or very animalistic behavior is already too far off to be called a demihuman. It is typical for most citizens of the
Federation of Slimea to call all species that are not too animalistic like anthros and have a similar size and body form as a human demihuman. The most common definitions are the following:
"Demihumans have human skin and human anatomy. They do not have their bodies covered in fur and they behave human-like. Demihumans are closer to a human than an animal. Aliens, no matter how similar they look, are not demihumans."
"Does it speak like a human? Look similar enough to a human? But it is no human? Then we call it demihuman."
