Those portals are dangerous! We must guard them at any time to prevent monsters or dangerous invaders from running us over! — Border Guard from the USA
A Pink Mist Portal is a hole in reality, the traditional wormhole that connects 2 places in space-time. Most of these portals collect two places at the same time, but it is possible that a portal can lead to another time era. These holes in our space-time appear during
Pink Mist Storms, like the one that began in 2017 in our universe.
Space Conjunction
Pink Mist Portals are not as random and unpredictable as they appear at first. To know and to predict an exact portal is impossible, but there are places in space-time and in space that are conjunct by nature or by the forces of the
Pink Mist. Such places have a far higher chance of becoming connected by portals and the amount of portals during a pink mist storm is generally high.
An example of such a space conjunction are
Earth and
Bardor. During all pink mist storms, these two planets were connected by many portals, allowing the
Humans to settle on Bardor and of monsters reaching Earth.
Classification
We can group pink mist portals into several categories, depending on their stability, size, and reach. It is important to note, that these classifications are only general thumb rules and that each pink mist portal is unique and can switch between groups, becoming for example bigger or smaller.
Stability
When looking at the stability of such a portal, it must be said that even the stable ones can only stay stable during pink mist storms and vanish after such a storm passes.
- Stable - A portal that is stable does not change size and is relatively safe to use. It can be seen as a constant wormhole that connects two places permanently, allowing trade and raids.
- Temporary - A portal that is temporary is only stable for a very limited amount of time, often only days to weeks at most. These portals are often the cause for permanently lost contact with the own home when traveling through these. During their appearance, it is impossible to say if they are stable or temporary.
- Flickering - Flickering portals are dangerous by nature, as they open and close unpredictably. It is generally assumed that most legendary monsters in old stories came through such flickering portals. Traveling through such a portal means there is a high chance you won't be able to travel back by the same portal. Most flickering portals appear inside pink mist areas, causing people to vanish or appear out of the mist.
Size
The size of portals differs heavily. The most common ones are small and medium-sized ones, while gigantic ones are extremely rare, especially stable ones.
- Small - The smaller portals are anything up to a meter in size. They can be as small as an insect, or barely big enough to jump through as a human.
- Medium - The most generally known portals are the medium-sized ones. These portals are 1 up to 2 meters in size and are big enough for most people to simply walk through.
- Big - Big portals are up to 50 meters in size, big enough for nearly any animal and monster to pass through. They are rare but appear from time to time during storms.
- Gigantic - Portals above 50 meters in size are generally called gigantic ones. They can be several hundred meters in size, big enough for whole fleets of ships, or armies to walk through.
Besides the open portals that are visible to the normal eye, there exist many smaller micro-portals, more fissures in reality than true portals. These small fissures can be used by certain people with the ability to find such fissures and to navigate through them with powerful magic. For people who do not know about these micro-portals, it looks like such people can simply teleport away.
Reach
Pink mist portals most often connect two planets of the same time era with each other. Rare portals can create a bridge between space-time or even between dimensions of the multiverse. The following terms are used to describe portals. The same portal can be of several of these types at once.
- Planet-Connecting - Portals that connect two planets. These planets can be anywhere and anytime.
- Time-Connecting - Portals that breach the time itself, creating a one-way-corridor into the future. They allow time travel towards the future. Time travel towards the past is impossible, making these portals one-way portals. Not even information in the form of sound or view can travel towards the past.
- Dimension-Connecting - Portals that connect two dimensions of the Multiverse with each other.
- Universe-Connecting - Portals that are not bound to a planet, but instead form a connection between two places in the universe, in space often. These portals are most often inside nebula areas or near unstable stars and supermassive black holes or neutron stars.
Visualization
Pink mist portals are holes that link two places with each other. You can look through the portal and see the other side in real time. On the edges of the portal, pink mist is flowing around the hole. Touching this
Pink Mist directly can lead to mutation and magical infusions. It is advised to not touch it. Portals don't need to be round but can have many shapes. Circle-shaped portals are the most common ones nevertheless. Not all portals allow you to see the other side, some hide it behind a pink veil, similar to alabaster glass.
History
Pink mist portals appeared during every pink mist storm. Their exact origin is unknown, but it is assumed that the forces of the
Pink Mist itself or the trapped
Angels in the
Tartarus have something to do with them.
It is known that especially the portals between
Bardor and
Earth have caused many events in history and even big migrations between the planets in the past.
- Humans arrived on Bardor during the first pink mist storm in 19800 BC. It can be assumed that they used more than one portal during this age.
- During the second pink mist storm between 2600 and 500 BC, the Theocracy of Atlantis used several portals to make contact with the ancient Mediterranean world on Earth. It was often used to raid nations along the coast and to capture slaves for Atlantis.
- Many myths on Earth, like those of Kitsunes, Dragons, Elves, or Fairies, can be directly linked to species from Bardor. It can be assumed that the origin of most of these ancient stories is portals between the planets during the first and second pink mist storms.
