It was 850 BC in Nemsan that the first Maldaries were created by the military research branch of the Theocracy of Atlantis with the help of artificial bodies and soul insertion by golemancers. They were created for a single simple reason: to hunt escaped slaves. Their fast legs and the absorption abilities of their tails were designed to catch these slaves and bring them back safely to Nemsan or other Atlantean cities. Soon most slave traders had some Maldary under their thumb to make it clear that escape was impossible.
