Vespula XII
Queen Vespula Yellow-Jacket, XII
Appearance
Visually similar to her daughters Ves and Vee, she had dark grey skin and blonde hair, with wasp-features. She is tall and elegant and wears her hair in a long straight ponytail. She wears a slim tress lined with gold and pearls and large shoulder pauldrons which signify her status as not just a Queen, but a warrior. Despite her age she is still quite youthful in appearance with few noticeable wrinkles.Description
Vespula is a rather serious woman, dedicated to tradition and providing for the Hive. She is not deeply in touch with her emotions, finding things such as empathy to be a sign of weakness. Like many Queens before her, she was raised with the sole purpose of taking over the hive and having daughters of her own, and also like them, she mated young and started her Queendom early, as her mother, Queen Vesupula XI died in one of their great hunts. She would soon have her first heirs, twins Ves and Vee. Twins meant only one thing in their culture, that the would have to fight to the death for the throne. Knowing this fate waited at least one of them, she forced herself not to get close with her daughters, keeping a distant, authority figure role in their lives.Relationships
History
Garis met Vespula during her 17th birthday, where a number of eligible drones from neighboring hives would have an opportunity to try to court the Queen. He was chosen as he was meek, but kind and made her laugh.
Relationship Reasoning
They're relationship is amicable at best. She tolerates the presence of him in her Hive, but doesn't offer him much attention beyond the bare minimum. This isn't to say she doesn't care about him, but she is a busy woman with no time for emotions or coddling.
History
When Vee and Ves were born, Vespula made an active effort to not get emotionally attached to them, knowing that one day one of them would have to die. As a result, she always came off as cold and unloving towards the girls, and it would often be nursery workers raising them instead. She could be cruel and difficult to please especially with Queen training, which was almost the only time the girls interacted with her for an extended period of time. She instilled a sense of fear of her in them from a young age. By the time the duel arrived, it became less about taking the throne (and not dying), but more about not being considered a disappointment. When Ves ultimately won the duel, Vespula tried to be more affectionate to her daughter, but it only came off as unnerving and condescending. Ves's resentment towards her mother and the things she had to do for the throne and the hive eventually came to a boil when her mother didn't protect her from the Drones who hurt her, instead scolding her for taking such drastic, violent action against them. This would escalate into a fight between them, the result was Ves being banished from the Hive.
