Ep. 303 Mistakes

General Summary

Last time on whatever the hell this is; our party members found themselves deep inside the earth as it crumbled on top of them. Somehow, they awake, alive and only a little damaged. Carric is relieved to find his healing magic had worked, explaining that when he found them, they were trapped beneath the earth and nearly dead. But luckily, the cave in affected a large (and relatively unpopulated) area of the city. Thus he was able to get to them in time.

Unsurprisingly, Carric is both in awe and horrified of the Godly gifts that the party members now possess. Especially when they try to touch the gifts and the temple begins to tremble and shake. All but HyeoJun's hammer disintegrate into dust. Rightly so, Carric is heartbroken. As should our party members, after incurring the wrath of not one, but four gods
“You’re a slow learner”

Because Carric is expecting people to filter into the temple for his soup kitchen, he suggests the party return to the catacombs beneath the temple. Quinn is elated to find that they are alright after their near death experience and professes her apologies for laying so many responsibilities on their shoulders, when it was her duty to protect the city. Even so, the party is determined to help rebuild the city

Baelai, with HyeoJun's hammer in hand, shows off its divine power as he attempts to repair the catacombs meeting place. With one simple strike of the tool, a reverberating pulse erupts from the point of contact and, like magic, the broken beams and cracked stone are immediately repaired

Ler, with a fire in his belly and hope once again, teams up with our bard to go out and repair the city. They both emerge from the catacombs and temple to scour the streets for physical damage, Baelai making sure to disguise himself as a shorter, plumper, version of Carric, named Tarric the Cleric

They run into very little issue, save for a few close calls with inhabitants recognizing Ler and investigating the two together, and are able to make headway. All up until they hear a scream from the other side of the city's wall. Edith is sent beyond to find the cause of the commotion, discovering massive muscular chickens attacking citizens that live beyond the walls.

What will they do next?

Flint is unsure of his next move, until Gale summons him to her side. She wants to find a way to get more information on the false mayor, Dirjil. Flint offers that they plan to gather information from his followers before storming the castle. Although Gale definitely isn't the backstage type of gal, she is impressed by Flint's clever plan. She reveals that the people loyal to Dirjil often congregate in the abandoned tavern, so that is where they head first.

Under Farryn's spell of sneakness, Gale and Flint just barely make it to the tavern without being discovered. As Gale prepares to fight some unruly looking city folk, Flint dives into an open window of the tavern and pulls her inside. Luckily for them, they overhear city folk discussing their concerns with someone who seems to have a direct connection to Dirjil

This is the person they must follow. However, how will they successfully follow him back up North through the city? Well, do as dwarves do, burrow beneath the ground. Flint leads Gale back into the under caverns, but will they make it back out?

What more lurks beneath the city?

Farryn declares her decision to go South from the city, towards the settlement of Houndbreach. There, she would need to reopen paths for communication and trade and hopefully take care of the constant bandit problem. Inspired by Farryn's determination, Quinn volunteers to join her. After all, she is the mayor of the city, and should participate in diplomatic missions with their allies.

Easily and swiftly, with the help of Farryn's magic, the two travelers are safe as they exit the city. They ride off together on Farryn's  pocket horse, Shadow (I think?). Without many obstacles to face, they are able to chat and share a little bit more with one another, only until they approach an overturned wagon and loose horses. AND THEN - A blast of ice magic strikes both of them from seemingly out of nowhere

Notes

Information gained about religion from Carric:
  • Snowmor helped build and cultivate the city of Ringwe'Eska, explaining the immense devotion here in the city
  • There’s a pretty big temple in Varna Ram. Although it was an elven stronghold in the war, Keryn is a far more elven city now and Varna Ram is most likely more human.
  • Warreng'morian is far more dedicated to Deseldo, scattering his temples all over the South
  • Aikanaro has a huge human temple for HyeoJun

Dreyfuss is an incredible cook and makes excellent tea
The Darkshire Manor was affected by the Cave-in
Quinn shared that she was sent away from her home in Keryn after someone close to her had mysteriously passed away.
  • She and Gale share problems with authority at one point or another in their pasts
Gale has a tick that causes her to wink, for flavor
Baelai ensures Ler that Bress is safe, even shares things about his own family, but does not sayanything about werewolves.
