Ep. 401 Downtime Specials

General Summary

Our beloved adventurer's are in need of a well-deserved break. And here it is, here is what happened.     A week after Creation Day, a ceremony is held in the center of Ringwe'Eska to proclaim the city's heroes. Farryn, Flint, Barrian and even the Bros are awarded with their own special badges to show off their new roles for the city. Quinn personally awards the party as well as has the entire city in attendance to celebrate their heroic deeds. And like a dad at his kids dance recital, Tarbohom is front and center to give them a standing ovation.   Upon their return, the party takes a tour of the new and improved Darkshire Manor  (which has its own article on World Anvil now that I don't feel like linking- DM part 2 gotchya, no worries) as well as getting a sneak peek at the fast travel abilities of the Infinite Tavern. Which we did discuss, is a privilege and not something to take for granted. Fafnir will take it away from you. For any small inconvenience.
Baelai meets Gidget. Gidget is a gidget that finds, identifies, and sells magical items of all sorts from their cart "It's a Gidget!!1!". Along with Bolt, he finds out that making a Displacer Cloak costs 7,000 gp. So it's time to start busking. Mentioning Bolt is mostly unimportant now, but this is a note to remember, that Bolt was with Baelai today and not at the Manor.   This scene took like an hour and a half to roleplay but this is mainly the gist of it. Baelai got a bunch of cool items and a few other ones appraised. Oh, and Flint got stones of farspeech!
Flint meets Galacore the World devourer. Which apparently Derek the Demilich has a past with. Flint has oh so casually had this fiend hanging off his bedpost and now everyone is aware of the danger. Derek would like to remind everyone that he "eats book" and that his current state of transforming an old estate into his lair for an adventurer's guild is not his "darkest timeline". Whereas Galacore is over here, nibbling on Flint's toes.
Now, let's talk about Farryn. Who realizes she's late for a "not date". It's a date, but also not a date? Farryn doesn't admit it is a date until Quinn asks. But anyway, she and Quinn are going on a cute little walk around the center of the city. Just one little problem; Farryn wanted to wear the hero's badge that Quinn gave to her, but it's nowhere to be found. Her party members are no help, because Flint doesn't care enough and Baelai is convinced that not only did Galacore eat Farryn's badge, but he also ate Baelai's badge. Even though Baelai was still wearing it.   Farryn goes off with Derek in search of the culprit, and suspecting the children that run around the manor most often, they go in search of whoever was in charge of babysitting them for the day. And this is where that handy note from earlier comes in handy; it was supposed to be Bolt.   Uncle Bolt skipped out on his duties for the day. And boy was he punished for it. Dreyfuss would've wrung him out if they weren't such good friends. But those two went off in search of the kids, after Bolt gave Farryn his own badge for her date. Quinn was happily waiting for Farryn in the tavern, and the two cuties went off and wandered around the merchant caravans. Farryn got Quinn a scarf and she looked SUPER cute in it. Quinn wanted to take Farryn to an old bakery that she loved in the city, "The Flour Girl", but it appeared to be closed. Closed for good.   Though as luck would have it, the boys were also here. Why? Because this is where the search for the children lead them. After breaking into the boarded up building, having a toddler snatch up Edith, and intimidating a bunch of small children, they were able to convince them to give Farryn's badge back and head back home to their fathers. Because none of them have mothers.
Back to Flint, he's had a much more productive week here in Ringwe'Eska. Gale has made him the first and only participant of her Galeb Duhr Tough as Rocks Training Course. Which she expects him to graduate, after he stops letting her kick his butt. In the meanwhile, between learning the rules of a fighter, he learns a lot about Gale and the Mountain Dwarves too. There is a lot of unrest there, due to the conflicts that lead to the twin princes' deaths and the now ruling family, the Strowrdrek Clan.   Flint shares with her his past, and his connection to being the Prince of Fire, Reteros. She is surprised, but more than that, she feels more determined to get him into shape. Because no Prince of Fire would so easily let himself get knocked out by a mere gladiator in the arena.   His night ends with a visit from Baelai, who declares that he feels Flint will need more protection. Especially if he's planning to become the group's fighter. So, much to Flint's and the Dms' surprise, he hands over his emerald pendant. We don't exactly know what this means, but it appears to be important.
