Keryn

Nestled against a mountain's face in the northern most reaches of the country is the city of Keryn, the capital of Fafniran. Once a mighty war capital that had used these mountains as defense against the savage races the High Elves aimed to conquer, Keryn now stands as a symbol of power and beauty. White stone buildings are carved into the incline of the mountain, surrounding the central tower of the city which serves as the workplace of the High Elven Council.   Upon entering the city, you are overshadowed by grand arches and spiraling towers reaching towards the heavens, almost mimicking the visage of the inhabitants themselves. Tall and almost glass-like people glide throughout the glistening stone roads, paying you little mind as you walk among them. You see specs of other species that live here, but they are minimal to the High Elves that claim this city. This city is nothing like the countryside you have explored and lived in for most of your life. Almost as if it were a piece of an alien world that settled in this spot, claiming reign over you and your people.

Demographics

The majority of the population are High Elves, due to the rich High Elven heritage of the city. There are other species that inhabit the city, of course, but they populate the lower districts.
The distinguished differences among the people is almost unnoticeable. Since almost inhabitant of the city is a political official, they all have a High Elf demeanor.

Government

The politics of Keryn and Fafniran, of which Keryn is the Capital, is run by a council of High Elves. The members of the council are assigned by the leading government of Fafniran, which is located in Paathrox. In order to give the Fafniran people some say in how they are governed, representatives from each large city and providence provide information to the council.

Infrastructure

At the base of the main castle tower are 8 ramps that lead upwards and connect into one road reaching ever skyward. Climbing at a slight incline through to the higher peaks of the towering castles, the roads up are dotted with inns, shops, offices, and homes of officials and their families. At the greatest top of the highest tower sits the main office and council chamber of the country’s leadership. This is where the representatives of Fafniran subsidiaries and the governing high elves who call the city home gather to discuss political states and treaties and elections.

History

Before many cities were built in Fafniran, tribes and small settlements scattered the realm. It wasn't until the High Elves claimed control that the beastly races were organized and given boundaries to their territories. When the mighty Uruk race sought to take over the realm, Keryn was an essential fortification against their overwhelming numbers. Militaries were born and raised here and strategies that would win the war were formulated within its walls. A treaty between the Dwarves and Elves was signed here and it is from here that the High Elves of Paathrox control the country of Fafniran.

Architecture

The architecture of Keryn mimics that of the governing country Paathrox. When it was built, Dwarves carved into the mountain, providing the sturdy structure while Elves designed its appearance.
A pristine road carved out of the white stone of the mountain spirals up the incline of the mountain face, connecting the entirety of the city. This city was once used for protection, but that did not stop the ancient high Elves from preserving it's natural beauty into every piece of its structure. Every building, courtyard, road and bridge seems to be made of a heavenly glass, one that cannot be destroyed so easily.

Geography

A mountain range fortifies the back of the city and before it lays the great plains of Fafniran.
