Alderdeen
A recap of sessions 1-5.
General Summary
We opened in Alderdeen, a small town in the Kingdom of Calwaith. Surrounded by trees and farmland, its main feature is the Temple of Andreas, goddess of knowledge. The town was unusually busy as the retinue of two noble houses were camped on either sides of the main road leading out of town. The red of House Whitmore and the blue of House Lorenz signified a wedding was to take place, and our heroes arrived just as the final touches were being put in place for the ceremony.
Aegis traveled with Ayda to support her playing at the wedding as one of the bards who had answered the call for musicians.
Beuregard Samuelson (Gard, to his friends) had been chasing a fox out of a farmhouse before being pressed into overseeing the ceremony as the local priest had become comatose.
Axilya tried to sneak into the temple through various means, but was caught multiple times and was brought in with Ayda and Aegis as another bard.
Hogoz Rosseu and Finnegan Applewood arrived on one of the last wagons into town with the other bards performing at the wedding.
Axilya told the others that the Temple of Andreas was the home of an oracle who had a direct connection to Andreas, and that the priest here was supposed to know of a way to find answers to things no one else could tell her.
Gard gave a beautiful ceremony and cast ceremonyon the newlyweds. Just as Morella was putting her ring on the hand of Loras Whitmore, an assassin appeared via polymorphon the ring. He stabbed Loras, and all hell broke loose as other bards revealed themselves to be assassins and attacked Morella and Loras.
As the party fought the other assassins, one warforged assassin disengaged and fled towards the basement. The warforged soon used a scroll of teleportaway after being outnumbered. Upstairs, Ayda cast healing word on Loras as he was bleeding out.
A moment later, the party met Violet , a Harper agent, as she stepped out from hiding in the basement of the temple. She told the party that she was sent to recover the magical scroll called the Scroll of Answers before it could fall into the hands of an unknown adversary, and had been able to do so within moments of that happening.
Aegis identified the Scroll of Answers as a powerful artifact that could be used to answer a question, but could only be used once by an individual person.
The party talked to Gunnar , and Ayda and Aegis revealed privately to him how they had met. Gunnar had been surprised to hear that there was a survivor of House Galloborne. He told them that it was common knowledge that the high elf wizards of House Galloborne all died fighting to take back Enlas Anore.
Gunnar gave the party writs of safe passage through the Kingdom of Xanstrines. Ayda specifically received a Serpentine Owlfrom Morella for healing Loras. Loras informed the party his father could offer a boon of any kind for saving his life, and the party agreed to meet Loras at Castle Whitmore.
The next day, Violet brought Quill to meet the party and discuss what to do with the Scroll of Answers. The two groups agreed to have Quill stay with the party to protect the scroll while Violet returned to the Harpers headquarters in Calwaith.
As he was leaving the temple, Hogoz asked the scroll where his father was. The scroll answered "Mount Zizek", a mountain at the northern end of The Spine - the mountain range that splits the continent of Solandrin almost in half.
The party gathered equipment and took the road heading east.
