Greyshire

Grayshire Before entering the Terpawa forest, one must stop at Grayshire to pick up last minute supplies, and a nights rest. This hamlet nestled among the trees has about 30 standing structures that seem to be in some sort of disrepair. The village is responsible for most of the wood used on the coast. When not sending lumber down the river, the town acts as a stop for the military before they venture into the forest. The town has been hit by repeated high storms, leaving loss and destruction in its path. Their Law Master, Hessal, woke up after the storms and wandered into the woods by themselves and hasn’t been seen since.   Population: 183 (80% humans, 15% aasimars, 1% other races)   Government: A single, officially sanctioned sheriff looks to maintaining order within the village; however, most people tend to their own affairs.   Defense: The sheriff and an untrained militia composed mostly of lumberjacks and farmers defend the settlement from wild animals and sometimes the forest itself.   Commerce: The settlement exports almost all the coast’s lumber. Lumber yard, Tavern, Blacksmith.   Organizations: Aside from the lumber mill, the temple and sacred grove dedicated to Arton, the settlement is too small to support independent guilds.   Before entering the Terpawa forest, one must stop at Grayshire to pick up last minute supplies, and a nights rest. Tight – knit community were when something affects one of them it affects all of them. The residents of Greyshire are generally friendly, welcoming, and slow to take offense. Law Master Hessatal is the single, officially sanctioned sheriff, and is recognized as the leader of the village. If an issue arises the Law Master can request help from the people of Grayshire as it is too far from the capital. Most of the population have enough to get by, and most villagers have had no personal experience with crime, and only a few know people that have.   Points of Interest   The folks that live in a village live a simple life. They have a temple and a sacred grove to Arton, for their worship. While most of the village is dedicated to Arton, the people there do not encroach upon the beliefs of others. There is a large community center, for organized events. There is a small inn and tavern, an herbalist shop, and a smithy.   Oxblood Tavern and Inn: A small quiet tavern. It has a few beds for travelers, and a couple of tables for people to sit at. The owner and barkeep is named Fasue Mikared, a female human.   Smithy: Bronos owns and crafts within his blacksmith shop. He has simple weapons, and armors, mostly makes mundane things for buildings and the people of Greyshire.   Bouncy Flowers Herbalist: A small shop with mundane herbs, and items. Ran by a male Aasimar named Saniel.   Temple of Arton: A small temple, head priest is an Aasimar male named Conah.   Shrine to Arton: An ancient tree, has been there since before civilization. Locals believe that this is where Arton was created.   Superstitions: Never stick a knife point-down into wood, or a cutting block, as it invites acts of violence among those nearby.

Government

Law Master Hassal is in charge with the well being of the Greyshire. He collects a small amount of taxes from the people, just enough to help maintain roads and other public facilities but does not seem to over extended his hand. If the need to create a guard would arise, one would be made out of volunteers from the lumberjacks.
