Nueman
Nuemans are the native species of humanoids in Nue. They have the same physiology of humans from the Home Universe, but drastically differ from both humans and inhumans through their ability to harness their AURE.
History
Physiology
Similarities to Humans
Anatomically, Nuemans are identical to humans (Homo sapiens). They have a large rounded braincase, lack of a brow-ridge, a chin (even in infancy) and a narrow pelvis, all features that make up a human.Chordiology
Nuemans are adapted to take advantage of their AURE for originally survival purposes. Due to this, Nuemans have the innate ability to detect the AURE of other living beings. Throughout Nueman history, their connection to supertime has lead to it being incorporated into the arts, with many even considering the study of chordiology art itself.Civilization and Culture
Average Technological Level
Compared to the Home Universe, the technological development of Nuemans spans the periods of the early 1700s to the mid-1800s, depending on the society.
Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals
Due to their connection to AURE, Nuemans have their own form of non-verbal gestures relating to the contact of hands. Unlike human/inhuman hand gestures, the Nuemans have more complexity in the symbolism of hand contact. The way one holds another's hand can signify their relationship:
Interlocked Fingers
This specifically signifies a blood relationship between siblings. It is considered profane to interlock fingers with a non-sibling, especially with people outside of one's kin. The symbolism of interlocking fingers shows that the siblings are of the same chord (string) in their family as they come from the same parents. Despite this, it is still an appropriate gesture for step-siblings and half-siblings.Mid-index Grab
The index and middle fingers are considered to be the second and third most important fingers of one's hand respectively. This gesture is commonly used when death is close as it is a way to make another party promise the one holding out their index and middle fingers together. The promise is made by the other party by them grabbing the fingers. Two parties can also promise each other by using their fingers to grab one another's index and middle fingers.Thumb Grab
Similar to the mid-index grab, the thumb grab also signifies the making of a promise. The thumb is considered the most important finger of one's hand and is used to represent onself. The thumb grab is done by only one person with both their hands and symbolises a promise made to oneself. It has no meaning when done with more than one party.Palm Touch
The palm touch does not necessarily have interpretive meaning as it is rather used in part of a technique that adds the vibrato of two or more chord users into one highly amplified chord. However, the technique does in turn lead the palm touch to represent strength and unity.
