Seven Days Rebellion
The war that ended the reign of the Spider Queen Lolth in the Drow Empire, the Seven Days Rebellion swept across an empire slightly smaller than Europe, leaving upheaval and chaos in its wake before the survivors picked themselves up from the relative bloodless war and rebuilt, creating the Midnight Kingdom.
The Conflict
Prelude
THe Seven Days Rebellion was preceded by massive crackdowns against civil disobedience and a general unrest. the call to arms began for the resistance when Erandul the Moonsworn gave the signal on a Lintar to fight.
Deployment
The Resistance quickly took strategic military and political positions, removing the leadership of the Drow Empire before an effective response could be organized. The Drow Empire was relatively quick to respond, but suffered from its disrupted chain of command, which crippled the empire for the entirety of the Seven Days Rebellion.
Battlefield
While minor skirmishes and the occasional standing fight was fought across the Drow Empire, the majority of the fighting took place in Nalar.
Conditions
The Seven Days Rebellion took place entirely underground, and the crammed tunnels and winding alleys of the underground cities that served as the battlegrounds of the rebellion.
The Engagement
Resistance operatives and infiltrators were able to quickly seize defensive locations, and set up asymmetrical warfare against the Drow Empire, which found itself on the back foot for the entirety of the engagement. The exception was in Nalar, where resistance infiltrators failed to penetrate the Temple of Lolth, leading to a five-day seige before Erandul Moonsworn broke down the main gate and stormed the temple, aided by a group of nine close friends.
Outcome
A near-total societal breakdown occurred after the Seven Days Rebellion, though many in the newly-christened Midnight Kingdom welcomed the change. Regardless, a thousand and one different customs, traditions, and ways of life had to be changed to remove Lolth's taint. Chief among these changes was the adoption of a Dwarvish script for the language that would become Undertongue.
Aftermath
The Church of Lolth survived the Seven Days Rebellion and regrouped in the farthest reaches of the Trenfold Caverns, swearing vengeance. They remain a thorn in the Midnight Kingdom's side to this day.
