Chanda

Chanda is a habitable moon, aka a planetary satellite, that is a territory of the Galactic Coalition.

Star System

Chanda is a moon to one of six planets on a single-star system, with the planet it orbits being known as Chanda Major and the moon being properly called Chanda Minor. Besides Chanda the planet also has four more moons.

Ecosystem & Geography

Chanda is an ice moon that is in a constant state of winter with freezing conditions. It is rare for anything other than lichen or moss to grow on the planet, and even then it could really only grow in the ice caves. The majority of the life on the planet is small and lives in the ice caves as well, living off the lichen and other smaller species. There are also many microorganisms that have been frozen in the planet's ice.

Chanda Moon Base

The Chanda Moon Base is an observation base that also functions as a training facility for the Coalition Military and other interstellar security forces of the Galactic Coalition. The planet has research labs as well as dorms and other storage buildings for general use.
The Base’s main function is as a science laboratory. Mainly studying things that can only be kept at frozen temperatures or stuff like ancient frozen microorganisms from the planet's permafrost.
The secondary function of the Base is as a military training base. This is mainly because the Base needs funding, which they can get by letting the galactic coalition train cadets on the planet and house them and their equipment at the base. Those who train on the base are often in the last legs if elite military training and are prepping for the Chanda Survival Training Mission which they need to complete to graduate.
The Training on the planet normally involves intense survival training to prepare cadets for extreme weather conditions, and pilots for how to fly in unpredictable and dangerous weather.

Population

It is not very populated due to its extremely cold conditions but there are a few buildings and structures on the moon, most notable being the Chanda Moon Base. Most of the people that live on the moon are from a variety of species that are part of the galactic coalition, it is rare for someone to live on the moon for extended periods of time, rather they are posted there for a few months maybe a few years before leaving.

Infrastructure

The moon has minimal infrastructure and even has to get supplies shipped to the base as they can only grow so much in the base's greenhouse.
