Great Namotians
Great Namotians are a family of large amphibians from the planet Donora. There are a few different sub-species and groupings which can be summed up as freshwater or saltwater species, and the family is closely related to others in their scientific classification group called Namotian although outside of the great Namotian branch is much smaller and often called Lesser Namotians. This article only refers to members of the Great Namotian branch of Namotians.
Appearance
Great Namotians have a long sleek body with four short limbs a narrow face and a long paddle-like tail, all of which allow it to move easily through the water. They also webbed fingers, claws, and sharp teeth. These are all characteristics they share with their smaller Lesser Namotian cousins. Like all Namotians, Great Namontians tend to come in muddy greens and browns with bumps and wrinkles on their skin that help them blend in with their surroundings.Biology
Diet
Great Namotians are carnivores and usually hunt fish and other aquatic creatures as well as any other creatures that come close enough to their watery habitat to be caught and eaten. This is one of the main differences between Great Namotians and Lesser Namotians, as lessers tend to just eat smaller fish, crustaceans, and insects.Behavior
Great Namotians are quite territorial and will attack any perceived threat including other Great Namotians. This leads them to be quite dangerous if anyone were to accidentally stumble into their territory and be subsequently perceived as a threat. Due to their territorial behaviors Great Namotians tend to not form into groups, often living mostly solitary lives. This behavior is unique to Great Namotians, as Lesser Namotians are much more tolerant and less aggressive. Great Namotians are also able to travel across land for short periods of time, however, due to their amphibious origins they must live in or near water for most of the time.Uses
The Greater Namotians are not often used for much by the Native Donorians . They may be hunted for their meat and skin, but due to their danger, this is quite uncommon.
