Scrar'il

Scrar’ils are a creature native to the planet Snarsis.

Appearance

The Scrar’il have long weasel-like bodies with two sets of thin legs. They are built for burrowing into the holes and caves of Snarsis as a way of hiding from the heat and accessing and hunting their prey. Their paws are slightly paddle-shaped with short claws both of which are traits that help them dig.   They have a long trunk-like nose that helps them sniff out both predators and prey as well as acting like a trunk, being able to move around and grab things even if its grasp is not very strong. They also have long fluffy tails.   They are covered in fuzzy fur, a trait that keeps them warm in the desert nights, and are often grey-brown in color, with lighter undersides.

Biology

Diet

Scrar’ils live on a diet of plant matter and bugs, it digs underground to catch bugs as well as tunnels through other animals' burrows and find bugs that way.

Behavior

Scrar’ils have a strong flight response, fleeing at the slight whiff of a predator. This, paired with them being nocturnal and not going out in the day makes them a rare sight for the casual observer. People often need some sort of hide for them to come out and be seen, or they can just go see ones in a zoological exhibit.   They make their homes in burrows, either one they dug out themselves or one that was abandoned by another animal that they claimed as their own. They are not very social creatures, really only living with their parents and later with their mates and offspring. They are monogamous and mate for life, with mates sharing the same burrow and nest year round.   They give birth to live offspring, often in litters of three or four, with both parents raising the young together. When the young reach full maturity they will often go off on their own making their own nest and finding their own mate.

Uses

Scrar’il are not used for much, never really being hunted for meat as they don't have much and they are hard to catch. They may be kept as pets or in zoological exhibits.
