Djaout Shipyard

Purpose / Function

The main purpose of this facility is to be an important production center for the Navy, producing all types of ships ranging from huge dreadnoughts to small auxiliaries. From its conception, it was designed to be the largest shipyard in the Republic, even eclipsing the Luna shipyard, in the solar system. This mainly to take advantage of the industrial production of Aderia which is the most important in the Republic, its central position in trade also gave it easy access to multiple components essential to the production of ships.

Alterations

Even if the original architecture has changed little, the shipyard has grown since the construction of the original section with several dozen construction bays that have been added over time. Several upgrades and repairs to keep the shipyard up to date with new technologies have however been carried out.

Architecture

The shipyard consists of a core that serves as the administrative and control center for all automated operations of the facility, connected to the latter by the numerous construction or repair bays for the ships. Certain sections are reserved for smaller aircraft such as shuttles, maintenance sciffs or any other non-ship items that require more extensive repairs. The materials used are generally the same as on the vessels and the installation as such has a very functionalist style since it is turned towards a military objective.

Defenses

Although some static defenses are present to defend this vital infrastructure, the majority of the defense would be performed by the Orbital Defense System, Starbase 2, and Navy forces assigned to defend the planet. In a dire emergency, some ships that are being repaired might also join the fight to fend off a potential battle in orbit.

History

The plan for the expansion and improvement of the old Aderia shipyard has been around for a long time, but it will really be put in place from the War of the Prophets which will see the needs of the Navy explode and the he old shipyard was clearly not enough. In addition, it was planned to increase the number of Navy ships by approximately 3,000 to better defend the territory, but this will require much greater production capacity. Finally, the Navy was starting to build new ships larger than before, with the dreadnought type which was just entering service, some shipyards would have to be enlarged to accommodate them and that of Aderia was on the list. For all these reasons, construction began in 2347 and ended in 2356 when the shipyard was named in honor of Rear Admiral Soraya Djaout who distinguished herself during the Battle of Bhelgmem.

You know when it comes down to it, you said this was supposed to be a trilogy but I wonder how large those books are going to be for the amount of worldbuilding you have done.

I will clearly not shown all the worldbuilding that I made in my book, but it not bother me, because I just like add this type of detail. They are the more important because it's these type of things that give the world it's depth, especially if everything is coherent.
