Boom Blade

Most soldiers would probably balk at being ask to smash an enemy with a live explosive, but goblin military is not like most armies. During prolonged combat, it was observed that weapons that saw heavy usage, like a sword, was at risk of breaking and turning useless. The boom blade was meant to give it a last use as an explosive or give a fatally wounded goblin one last chance to inflict some damage.
Combined with the bomb jacket, enemies of goblin hives quickly learnt that there was a serious risk that any given goblin would turn into a fortification-shattering explosive if pushed.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

A simple switch on the crossguard allows for the activation of the explosive embedded within. This switch is turned rather than flipped, to minimize the risk of accidental activation.

Manufacturing process

The sword part is forged in a smithy, then assembled around the bomb.
