These shields have crystals harvested from leylines incorporated into their surface. Whenever the wilder channels he powers of primal magic, excess energy is funneled into the surface of the shield, thus the name. This excess energy acts as a temporary barrier, increasing the defensive capability of the shield for a short moment.
