Master Zombie
Becoming a lich is the ultimate goal for many a necromancer. But it takes much knowledge and preparation and death may come knocking long before the practioner is ready. Some, in desperation, turn their arts on themselves, attempting to somehow preserve their existence. In many cases, they just leave behind a masterless zombie. But those with the skills may instead preserve their life as master zombies.
Master zombies are not as highly regarded as liches, but still respected as talented necromancers in their own right. They retain theirpersonality, and intellect, though both work slightly slower, as if it takes more effort for their undead minds to dredge up the needed bits and bobs.
Master zombies often work with and for other undead. They emenate a pleasing aura of dark magic which mends undead flesh and they have a natural knack for commanding mindless undead like zombies or skeletons. In battle, they will often allow a wall of minions to keep enemies at bay, Any foes that fall are swiftly turned into another minion to throw at their allies, while the master zombie fling spells from safety.
