Troll
Tough and enduring, trolls are widely renowned for their near immortal bodies. Their flesh and bones reknit themselves no matter how grievously injured, with only few, specific things capable of putting them down for good. Only age is certain to kill a troll ,as even their bodies eventually break down, but besides that, they have little to fear from most things.
Trolls are incredibly adaptable beings. No matter which environment, trolls have adapted to it, changing to perfectly fit the environment over just a couple of generations. Trolls are therefore very stubborn settlers, willing to accept all manner of problems, safe in the knowledge that by the time of their grandchildren, the issues will cease to be problems. Poison gas, venomous animals, scorching heat and freezing cold all fail to dissuade a troll who's decided to make a home.
Due to their ability to survive just about any injury, trolls are known to be rather fearless. The most they need to fear is being put into a temporary coma from sheer damage ,which most trolls treat the same way other races treat blacking out after binging on alcohol. Because of this tolerance to injury, troll competitions can be gory affairs. A duel, for example, might only end when one troll successfully rips the heart out of the other.
They are thus unafraid to battle, relying upon their regenerations to survive while they lay into their opponent with their long claws or sharp teeth. Only wielding a weapon that can inflict permanent injuries can cause a troll to back off and even that might not be enough.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Trolls have a bipedal build, with two arms and two legs. The arms end in solid claws and two tusks protrude from their mouth. Their ears and nose are all quite large. They are covered in a thin layer of fur, with stringy hair hanging from their scalp. They also have long tail ending in a tuft of hair.
Trolls are solid and with thick hide, but beyond that their bodies also possess an extreme capacity for recovery, allowing trolls to heal from even the most grievous injuries with ease. This comes at the cost of an immense appetite and troll stomach are churning cauldrons of acid meant to expediently break food down into useful nutrients. Few poisons and diseases can survive this enviroment and trolls rarely need to be too concerned about what they eat.
Genetics and Reproduction
Trolls reproduce through intercourse. The female troll carries the whelp for little over a year. Trolls are usually born as single children, though twins do occasionally happen.
Growth Rate & Stages
Troll whelps are ravenous, easily consuming their own weight in food every day. They grow extremely quickly, having adult bodies by five, though their brains take a few more years to fully develop. By age ten, trolls are capable of self-sufficient. Troll whelps often develop mutations during their growth, allowing them to adapt to their environment.
