Demonslayers
The Exodite Demonslayers are an elite unit of Exodite warriors and trackers, formed to hunt down and slay the most dangerous of Borderworld creatures that threaten Exodus. Recruited from the the most distinguished ranks of the Exodite military, the Demonslayers are heroic figures in Exodus, people who channel their substantial military talents to protecting the Exodite homeland from the most dangerous creatures to roam the planes.
Demonslayers usually operate in the Borderworld Exodus, cooperating tightly with Starseers who track and identify their quarry. The Demonslayers then intercept or hunt down the demons, and either kill or capture them.
Since Exodus began expanding into the Khely, the Demonslayers (frequently referred to as Angelkillers by the Khelish due to a mistranslation, the Elven term refers to Borderworld creatures in general) have also been deployed against humans and fae in the prime. Among humans, the Demonslayers are known as ruthless agents of the Exodites, a boogeyman and a reminder to never anger the elves to the point where they see fit to sic the Demonslayers on you. The Demonslayers, for their part consider fighting humans to be somewhat beneath them, but follow the orders of their superior ministers nevertheless.
Demonslayer squads are often no more than 20 strong, and led by a captain. They specialize in ambushes and engaging single, powerful foes in the most advantageous manner possible. Occasionally, Starseers will even join these squads directly to give the Demonslayers magical support.

Recruitment
Though all Exodite elves have some military training, and Exodus maintains comparatively large contingents of regular and semi-regular troops, only a small fraction of them are considered talented enough to join the ranks of the Demonslayers. Generally, Demonslayer captains recruit from the regular units of Exodite military, on the recommendations of the ministers and captains of these units. Though joining the Demonslayers is voluntary, it is also considered a great honor and a mark of excellence, and refusing is viewed as strange. Typically, Demonslayer recruits are already veterans of the regular army, and Demonslayers generally number less than two hundred.
