Exodite

A group of elves descended from the mythical Exodus over 750 years ago, the Exodites are largely considered synonymous with the elven race. Most elves live within the Borderworld Exodus, a pacified section of the plane under the permanent influence of The Dark. However, some 220 years ago, the Elves of Exodus emerged from a portal into the human kingdom of Cymbar.

Culture

Shared customary codes and values

The elves of Exodus are extremely community focused, and consider each elf to belong to a shared polity of elves, the state of Exodus. This mentality is deep-seated and rigorously enforced, and each elf lives and works for the totality of all elves. The elves do not use money among themselves, trusting in their authorities to distribute resources correctly, and most severely disdain the pursuit of enriching one's self.   The Exodites organize their society hierarchically and militaristically, and practically all inhabitants of the Borderworld Exodus have some weapons training to deal with extraplanar incursions. Although elves have considerable freedom by human standards to choose what to do with their lives, the majority work in agriculture, and the magically gifted are almost invariably taken by the Starseers. Exodites consider almost all endeavors an extension of the elven state, and one can draw a chain of command from the smallest farm or shop directly to the Exodite Council. Exodites consider their professional lives as a duty to their state and their race and draw sharp distinctions between personal possessions (mainly just what is needed to live) and those of their work. Each Exodite works for all Exodites.

Common Myths and Legends

The Exodites don’t worship gods, and have ambivalent views towards the existence of any. Their worldview emphasizes that the universe is a cruel, evil place, and any higher powers that exist have no love for mortals. They believe themselves to be in a struggle against the universe for the existence of their race. In particular, the Exodites hate the fae and forever prepare for their invasion to claim the elves back into slavery.
