GR 13: Duraman's Briar

A rag-tag group of adventurers pursued the rumors of a treasure located in the forgotten ruins of a gully near Lake Dalyan. Seeking individual fortune, they entered a highly ethereal dungeon built by the ancient Fae. In exploring the ruins, they found several etherical items and an ancient treasure cache. After returning to the town of Duraman’s Briar, they encountered emissaries from the castle of Rodessa. The rogue, Skib, was executed as an example to the villagers, when he refused to pay Rodessan taxes.   OUTSIDE GAME-TIME: Originally, the characters in this scenario were created for short-term adventures, unrelated to larger historical events. In GR 14: The Fallen Sword and 18, they came to be the “Left Hand” party, which aided the return of the Kainen to Aishelon. The found treasure and items served to be the result of divine providence, preparing the party for their future mission.   MEMORABLE MOMENTS: The adventure was created as an old-fashioned dungeon exploration. It introduced the Lake Dalyan area, as well as the Kingdom of Rodessa (a Roman-like vassal of Onscra). It was also the first time a character was summarily “executed” by the game Director for poor game play (but Tom Forliti was used to having all his characters die anyway.)
