The Trimet

Within a year of the Splintering, all hope seemed dead.  The world had fallen apart, and for the most part, all Reaches had been stolen and were in the hands of the petty warlords and tyrants.  It felt very much like no kingdom or city would ever be connected to another.  Towns that had lived under the rule of a King or Queen didn't know where to turn.  Who would rule them?  Who would protect them?  Who would even threaten them?  Order had been destroyed.
Until the Trimet.  
By force of will, careful scheming, and perhaps a bit of fortuitous coincidence, three cities seemed to have enough Reaches connect from one to the other two with so much regularity that even as the Reaches began to change, these Reaches kept them in touch with one another.  These three cities became a rallying point for civilization in a way that hadn't been seen since the Citadel or even Oceangarde at the heights of their influence.  People would find ways to get to one of the Trimet, since arrival to one city opened the door to others, and that in turn allowed access to many realms.
