MoM Session 6: The Mousetrap

General Summary

May 16, 1994 - Monday Evening
As apples rained down on the Milwaukee skyline, the cabal regrouped back at the hotel to start casting all the spells necessary to deal with paradoxes on such a grand scale. Casting wards to boost their vision, Slush and the others were able to tell that a large rat was scurrying around one of the top floors of the Bank Building weaving together some complex ritual. Gabriel was able to detect that the rat was trying to pull a thread of the ley line hovering over Lake Michigan towards the Bank Building, and with a bit of magic Gabriel was able to push it back over the Lake. 
This was all part of a larger plan to lure the rat out of its hiding place, trapping and neutralizing any of its supernatural powers. The cabal raced up to McKinley Beach to set up a godlike mousetrap, crafted with contraptions and gizmos that would've made Rube Goldberg weep at the beauty of it. The thread of the ley line was reattached right above the beach, the rat quickly racing down the streets of Milwaukee to deal with the cabal's interference in its rituals. Just like magic, the rat fell into the godlike mousetrap and the cabal quickly pounced on their prey. Rembrandt transformed the rat into an inflatable balloon, with Morgan Lindquist turning it to dust to hide any remaining evidence. Beguiler did not have a fun time on Spooky Earth. 
Things started going back to normal in Milwaukee, the sleepers remembering the series of paradoxes as nothing more than a particularly stormy week of spring weather. Medea's whisteblowing kicked the Chicago Consilium into high gear, dozens of Diamond mages sweeping through the neighborhoods of Milwaukee in a hostile takeover under the pretenses of keeping the city safe from any future paradoxes. Tiresias tried to hold off the invasion, but his forces were quickly overwhelmed and his union hall repurposed as another Consilium waystation. Members of the Free Council seethed at the incursion, leading to months of tense showdowns throughout the city that gave Seers and other factions plenty of cover for their own schemes...
