S40-002A: Colorado's Finest Clam Chowder
General Summary
THE FOLLOWING IS THE TRANSCRIPT OF A CONVERSATION BETWEEN
SCP SITE 40 DIRECTOR SIMON PEÑA AND HIS SECRETARY MAYA █████ RECORDED ON OCTOBER 4, 1993, 4:37 P.M.:
Simon: These monthly meetings with the Council are getting insane, who do I have to brainwash to increase our Site's budget!?
Maya: You've told me to remind you that the Foundation's current focus is on renovating Sites located in former Warsaw Pact nations, given that some of those Sites have been under Soviet control since the early 1950's.
Simon: And every time you remind me it doesn't make the Council calls any less stressful. You mentioned something about our Intel Department?
Maya: This afternoon our agents made a breakthrough while interrogating the suspect apprehended in Grand Junction last month, learning more about the organization she works for and their modus operandi.
Simon: Better late than never, it's too bad we couldn't get this before we sent the Mc40's out on that mission to Aspen. So what kind of group does Sandi work for?
Maya: They call themselves ████████, ██████, & ████, a group that specializes in the sale of powerful artifacts and anomalous items. Sandi was the group's liason who sold SCP S40-A to Randy McRandy, we should be able to request more intel from other Sites that have had encounters with this group.
Simon: Yeah, I think I remember that name from one of our conferences in ███. So we have the name of the sellers now, any idea about the buyers of this item the Mc40's are trying to intercept?
Maya: Sandi's group appears to value the privacy of its customers, all we know is that they will be visiting Aspen from abroad. We have, however, obtained the name of the seller during this trade-off: Sandra.
Simon: Wait, I thought we already had her in custody? The Grand Junction girl?
Maya: We have Sandi in custody, Sandra appears to be a distant relative to our detained suspect. If Sandi's recent confession holds true though, the two of them share a remarkable resemblance to each other. As do hundreds of other women working for ████████, ██████, & ████.
Simon: Clones, Maya, we're allowed to call them clones. That makes our job easy at least, send out an order to track all the 5'9" women in the western United States with blonde hair, perfect tans, and business formal wardrobes.
Maya: I will do my best to ensure that the amount of money needed for such an operation magically appears on your desk by tomorrow morning. Should we alert Team Mc40 about the new intelligence gathered?
Simon: Nah, I'm sure they've already got things under control. If they managed to find clam chowder in the middle of Colorado, they can find whatever this Sandra girl is selling. What's the worst that could happen?
Maya: Either Sandra or the buyers could turn violent?
Simon: They wouldn't risk it in a tourist town like Aspen, I'm sure it's still pretty busy out there even this late in the season. That Chase guy requisitioned a ton of firepower, he'd be able to shoot a bat out of the sky even if it was 10-feet tall.
Maya: And what if Sandra relies on any supernatural powers?
Simon: But the notes from Grand Junction show that Sandi never used S40-A, that was all Randy's meddling. If they're clones or twins or anything they'd act the same regardless of the situation.
Maya: Very well. And what about the Aspen Aberration?
Simon: Seems like if the Mc40's stay in town they should be fine. We haven't had sightings of it since the 60's, it's not like it killed that many of our crew on that last mission?
Maya: The Aberration tore apart ██ agents and mutilated █ more with 'surgical precision' according to the reports.
Simon: So that's a 40% survival rate, well within our surival goals. Seems like they'll be fine unless they stray too far from downtown and focus on this Sandra character.
Maya: I'll keep you updated on any developments from Aspen. I'll finish processing Intelligence's report in the meantime, need me to pick you up anything from SCP-294before I go?
Simon: Just some coffee will be fine, make sure it's that Arabica blend and none of those fancy brews it keeps pushing on me.
Maya: Very well.
