Architecture
Brutalist architecture juts out of the Rocky Mountains, the snow-covered peaks providing a near-perennial cover for the Site's paranormal experiments. The Site was rumored to be one of Louis Kahn's final projects before his death in 1974.
The Site's vast subterranean network of tunnels are large enough to comfortably work and living accommodations for up to 5,000 people, but the average number of on-site employees typically fluctuates between 2,500 and 4,000 people.
History
Creation of the facility was first approved by the Nixon administration during the Vietnam War to study more effective explosives to use against Vietnam and Cambodia, but the SCP Foundation was quickly able to claim control of the facility for its own supernatural ends. From anti-memetics to XK-class scenarios, the facility's isolated location has been used for a number of various experiments over the past twenty years. A high turnover rate among the Site's researchers and managers has led to some difficulties defining the Site's purpose for the Foundation, but with a new era of Cold War tensions underway the site's current director hopes to turn the Site into a vital hub for Cold War-era paranormal shenanigans.
