SCP S40-C
Item #: S40-C
Object Class: Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: S40-C is to be stored in a corner of the Site 40 research department furthest from the breakroom so as not to be misinterpreted as a new form of recreation for on-site staff members. The room should contain multiple high-energy plug outlets in case further instances of S40-C are discovered.
Researchers tasked with taking care of S40-C will be granted $1.25 to interact/experiment with the device for a single day. All requests for extra change will be denied until the researcher has completed a full psychological evaluation. Description: S40-C is a 6'-tall arcade cabinet for a game referred to as 'Polybius'. The game's title screen indicates a copyright date of 1981, but the game does not appear in any records from that year. Those who insert twenty-five cents into the machine will begin playing a game similar to Space Invaders or Gyruss, navigating space while destroying asteroids and alien lifeforms. Players who reach a high score of 5,000 points begin to experience migraines, nausea, and blurred vision. According to the arcade's scoreboard no player has reached a score higher than 10,000. The machine was discovered at an arcade in ██████████, NM, on 11/24/93 by the Mc40's. The device was being used as a security door at a secretive government organization known as the ███, agents required to reach a score of 5,000 points in order to unlock the site's security measures and access the facility located beneath the arcade. Head of Site 40 Security Chad Dae-Hyun has suggested that S40-C could be used for similar purposes at Site 40 to protect sensitive material or entities, but all requests have been rejected by Head Researcher Jim Burrell and Secretary Maya █████ pending further research. On the back of S40-C is a tag stating that this is the ██th Polybius cabinet released. Investigations are ongoing to discover other instances of S40-C.
