WWDitC Ch. V: New Bandmates
General Summary
From the Folk Singer's Journal
November 15 - 19, 1993
The nights wear on, and my thin-bloods are starting to learn their roles within the masquerade. It takes little to move them in the right directions, just a couple pieces of intel were sufficient for them to start trekking through the night for answers. This murder will be solved, they will diablerize the power of an elder kindred, and I can make my trips to Tokyo and Hong Kong safe in the knowledge that my thin-bloods will safely hold their domain. Some personnel changes were required to get to such a comfortable position: Ophelia has decided to take a step back from the intrigues, choosing to focus on the University of Washington and the goings-on of their domain. As the DJ of the school's radio station, she'll be well aware of any rumors or mysteries threatening the campus. While the rest of my coterie focuses on solving the unfortunately gruesome murder from earlier this month, I've provided them with some extra help to make up for Ophelia's absence. Jason has had much more time to familiarize himself with life as a vampire, and his haven south of downtown helps spread out the coterie's sphere of influence. Meanwhile Kate can be a reliable source of intel among the mortals, especially once this drug-dealing operation starts taking root. Kate's mortality could prove to be a liability in future nights, but for several years she's done a splendid job of managing the masquerade. Perhaps when one vampire has been diablerized there will be room for a new one to join our ranks in the new year? Humanity is such a tricky subject to broach, less than three weeks after her embrace Daphne has started lashing out her human boyfriend over the slightest disagreement. I suppose a relationship like that was doomed from the start, but for Daphne's sake I must make sure it lasts for quite some time so she still maintains her sense of humanity. For now, the murder of Misty Kiri remains our priority. Alexander met with Rostya to discuss potential suspects, if only ever crime could be investigated from the comfort of the Space Needle's dining hall. Only a handful of kindred could be capable of moving at such speeds to kill someone so quickly, among them being the vampires of Clan Brujah. This bit of evidence led them to sneak back into Volunteer Park to spy on their erstwhile rivals in the middle of their Friday-night king of the hill tournament. Sure enough, Florence Garcia revealed herself quickly moving around the courtyard to break up fights, displaying the same kind of celerity as Misty's killer. I do believe we have found the killer and our target for diablerie.
