Term: Leray Crystal
Crystal shards are mined from Sprawn Valley's underground mountain ravines and in places on the surface of Eupharus Island. When gathered, the Leray mages and other associates combine these crystal shards together using magic and special furnaces to solidify the objects. Once made, the crystal can be modified with a low-powered constant aura that is not linked to the veil that determines which of the three formats of energy it can support, and how much energy it can store (based on size and quality). Leray crystals store energy only related to Leray magic; it cannot store a version of dark magic or pure lunar light. Leray magic stored in these reusable and rechargeable crystals can be used as a portable power source of Leray magic by the mage that holds them. Instead of relying on the crystal core, these crystals can be used as a separate power source for emergency. Leray crystals can also be created or broken down in size to become consumable cores used in various objects such as healing orbs and other magical items.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
The internal materials of the crystal reflect incoming moonlight towards the condensed central core of the crystal, making it a portable power source. Leray crystals are designed only to hold Leray magic.
Significance
Before the creation of the veil and the crystal core, Leray crystals were the only means by which wielders could invoke Leray magic and spells. They were particularly important to both factions during the Avion Wars. Even today, Leray crystals are vital for the continued support and creation of magical orbs and similar items. Leray crystals are also used (though not entirely made of) the crystal core of Eldora Tower. It is rumored that in theory, it would be possible to take a charged Leray crystal outside of Sprawn Valley and invoke Leray magic to other parts of the world. Many country boarder security checkpoints scan for these items through luggage to ensure that possibility cannot be tested. Even if it could, Leray crystals have a low charge rating, depleting the moment a mage uses one or two spells from its source.
