Fairies

The Fairies are tiny elven creatures with wings made of magic itself, and they can change their size from tiny to large and back at will. They have a strong connection with nature and living beings, and are known for being skilled healers. Most fairies love nature, although the exact definition of "nature" has caused a split in the fairy community. Some believe that nature is just an ecosystem with plants and animals, others believe that the addition of such life on formerly barren planets is an affront to nature, and they adamantly despise the Terraforming Ritual.

Anatomy

Fairies have elven ears, and wings made from magic itself that look like pure light given shape. These wings can disappear and reappear at will, allowing them to get into a space suit or disguise themselves as an elf.

Growth Rate & Stages

Fairies tend to live to about 140, and mature at around age 18. They reach old age around age 110.

Civilization and Culture

Naming Traditions

Fairies normally name their children after things found in nature, such as "Rose" or "Willow." Their last names are usually some combination of nature and magic, like "Spellblossom" or "Vinebrew."

Beauty Ideals

Fairies have roughly the same beauty standards as Humans, albeit on a much higher scale.

Gender Ideals

Fairies believe that all genders are equal, and everyone should do their share of work in all endeavors.

Courtship Ideals

Fairy dates usually involve a lot of dancing, flying, and taking walks in nature.

Relationship Ideals

Fairies generally believe that both partners have equal say in decisions, and tend to settle things through unconventional means such as "talking about it" and "compromise."

Average Technological Level

Fairies have access to space travel, and have invented a space suit capable of harnessing their wing's natural magic to fuel a jetpack.

Common Dress Code

Fairy cloths generally cover only what is necessary, and is usually made out of natural material like flower petals or vines.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

The fairies get along well with almost every race in the system. They believe that every creature is unique, and they all have something to offer. This attitude has made them the most suspicious race in the system.

• Special Abilities: Fairies start with one rank in Medicine. They may change size from silhouette 0 to silhouette 1, or vice-versa, as a maneuver once per combat encounter, and as much as they like outside combat.
• Natural Healer: When Fairies heal others or themselves through Medicine checks or Magic, they add +1 to healed wounds. This does not apply to wounds restored through natural rest.
• Flyer: Fairies can fly above the ground. This is treated as normal movement, with the removal of terrain modifiers.
