Seven of Nine
Captain Anika Hansen (a.k.a. Seven)
Seven of Nine, born as Anika Hansen,
This was found to have been some kind of final test for Picard by Q, who then returned all but two members of the La Sirena crew to the moment just before Picard ordered the Stargazer's auto-destruct, this time cancelling the order and deciding to co-operate with the Borg Queen, who turned out to be Dr Jurati, who had remained in the past after being partially assimilated by the Borg Queen, but who had retained her individuality, leading to her becoming a Borg queen herself of an alternative and peaceful Collective separate from the one the Federation had encountered and who now approached the Federation for aid in stopping a disaster that would destroy several star systems. Captain Rios had also stayed behind in the 21st century after developing attachments to people he encountered there, leading to Picard deciding to give Seven a field re-instatement and promotion to captain of the Stargazer to help handle the crisis. The joint Federation-Borg task force was successful and for the first time since the aiding of the Unimatrix One rebel drones by the USS Voyager, an alliance was formed between the Federation and a peaceful faction of the Borg, now numbering up to three.
Seven would take the Stargazer back to Earth, where after a debriefing that included her old friends Admiral Janeway and Tuvok, Seven would decide to formally return to Starfleet, following a series of conversation with Picard and her former crewmates from Voyager. After deliberations among the admiralty and recommendations from Picard, Janeway and Tuvok, it was agreed that her reinstatement would be formalised and her field rank-upheld. She would be assigned as captain of the Stargazer, resuming its first seven-year exploratory mission. Before departing, she would reconnect with her former Voyager collagues and repair the bonds she had with them. Regarding the account she and Picard recounted of their tmeporal mission with Q, while there is no way to verify this account, it is still likely to have occured given the powers of the Q and their previous behavoir and as such is accepted to have occured by Starfleet Command.
Early Childhood and Assimilation
Return to the Alpha Quadrant
In 2385, Seven left Starfleet in protest after it decided that the Borg were no longer a threat after a decade of non-threatening actions from them. Seven saw their decision as dangerously reckless. Seven then accepted a job as a researcher for the Daystrom Institute. She would also offically adopt Icheb as a member of her family. In 2386 however, she would leave the Institute as well after witnessing the plight of Romulan refugees, joining a vigilante group known as the Fenris Rangers who were not under the control of any governing body, though she would retain a part-time membership in honour of serivce throughout her life. Tragedy would strike though when Icheb, who was assigned to the USS Coleman and on a reconnaissance mission at the time, was kidnapped by a criminal known as Bjayal, who had infiltrated the Rangers to get close to Seven in a crazed scheme to harvest borg technology from former drones. While Seven would find Icheb, the wounds from the extraction process were too severe and he died. Seven would continue working with the Rangers, continuing to aid Romulan refugees after the destruction of Romulus in 2387 and especially focused on tracking down Bjayal, despite pleas from friends and colleagues to return to Earth. Eventually, in 2399, Seven would find Byjal on the commercial world of Freecloud after coming to the aid of Admiral Picard at Vhasti when he was searching for missing Starfleet officer Bruce Maddox in an unoffical capacity. There she killed Bjayal and dismantled her criminal syndicate, finally achieving closure for her adopted son's death. The Nepenthe Incident
After La Sirena returned to Earth and its crew debriefed by Starfleet regarding their adventure and discoveries, the captain of La Sirena, Cristóbal Rios would be was offered to have his commission reinstated which he accepted. However, this left an issue regarding what would happen to the La Sirena. He deciding to gift it to Seven as a "Thank you" present, recognising that it could help her work as a ranger.Reurn to Starfleet
She would continue to operate as a ranger until 2401, when she encountered an anomaly within Federation space, the same anomaly that the USS Avalon encountered shortly earlier. After reporting this to now Captain Rios aboard the newly commissioned USS Stargazer, she would join his ship as it investigated, encountering all but one of those she worked with during the Nepenthe incident. It was soon learned that it was in fact the Borg who had created the anomaly and were, in a shocking twist, requesting Federation membership to be faciltated by Admiral Picard. A Starfleet task force was hastily assembled to confront the Borg ship that emerged, however it's ships were disabled when the Borg queen beamed aboard the Stargazer and accessed it's computer systems, gaining control of Borg technology that had been integrated through the ship that she used to disable the fleet. What happened next is unceratin, but Seven, Picard and several others from the Nepenthe Incident claim that they were taken from the ship as it was destroyed by auto-destruct ordered by Picard, an event that did not occur. However, they claim that this was done by the powerful being known as Q, the same member of the Q Continum that Picard had encountered multiple times, who took them into an alternate timeline where the Federation did not exsist, instead replaced by a xenophobic, Human-centric "Confederation" that conqured its way across the Galaxy. Seven, Picard and the others would discover that this timeline was the result of a change precipitated by Q in 21st century Earth, which they travelled back to using a captured Borg Queen for a time jump and were able to repair. Operation Delta Rising and the Iconian War
In 2408, Seven would take another leave of absense and would temporarily rejoin the Fenris Rangers, seeking to once again aid the Romulans now that the democratic Romulan Republic had formed and was growing rapidly, effectively battling against Empress Sela's Imperial Remanant and proving to be a much more effective and viable state to previous breakaway states such as the Romulan Free State. Seven believed the Republic finally provided the best opportunity for reform and freedom for the Romulan people and her aid would prove essential during the Republic's early days. In 2409, the original Borg Collective finally returned to the Alpha Quadrent, invading and assimilating the Vega colony. While Seven was unable to return immediately to Starfleet due to her work with the Romulans, she did offer advise and information whenever she could, even uncovering Imperial Romulan efforts in exploiting Borg technology. In 2410, with the Imperial Romulan Empire now dissoloving and the discovery of the Dyson Sphere Gateway linking the Beta and Delta Quadrents, Seven was requested as a specialist by Admiral Tuvok for Operation Delta Rising, the massive operation to begin exploration of the newly opened region of the Galaxy that only Voyager had explored. Seven accepted the position of science adviser to Tuvok's fleet and was assigned to the USS Callisto. For a brief time, she took a leave of absense and once again and returned to aid the Fenris Rangers, this time against a potential Borg activity in the Tralius system Currently, she has returned to service in Starfleet and has resumed command of the Stargazer Seven, despite her background as a former Borg drone, is considered something of a maverick by Starfleet. Throughout her adult life and her deep associations with Starfeet, either as an outside ally or offical officer, she has often acted of her own accord despite protestations from others in the chain of command, especially in issues regarding the Borg or in situations where Starfleet or the Federation are unable to take action to aid those in distress, a notable irony considering her background and her mentoring by Admiral Janeway, an officer who who holds Starfleet rules in high regard. While some see this as a liability at best and perhaps a danger at worst, others see it as a strength as she her judgement has been noted to be heavily based on a mix of facts infused with morality and duty, with decisions and not made lightly, leading some to make comparsions with her and Captain James T Kirk, who also had a history of bending or even occasionally breaking Starfleet regulations to do what he believed was the right thing. Some also see it as a sign of her regained Humanity and her actively expressing her ability to choose, especially those choices that are acts of good.
