USS Enterprise NCC-1701-F
The current flagship of Federation.
The Enterprise would make its debut in 2386
While the Enterprise and the 12 other Odyessy class ships in service served with distinction, there was concern among some of Starfleet's admirality and the members of the Federation Council that the Odyessy class was too resource intensive and overdesigined to adequately maintain on a regular basis. With the loss of the Utopia Planita shipyards, only one facilty in the Federation, the San fransisco shipyards, had the ability constuct and repair these massive, complex ships.
In 2401 it was decided that the Odyessy class line of ships would be scaled back and that Enterprise itself would placed into mothballs, as it had suffered a major compromise of it's computer systems from hostile forces during the "Monfette gambit" while rescuing Raillian refugees at Fenton 4 that severely affected it's critical systems and proved too difficult to effectively repair, due to the damage extending deep into each system's core coding. Before the ship would be decomissioned however, it would have the honour of leading the Federation Fleet for the Frontier Day celebrations of 2401, celebrating the 250th anniversery of Starfleet's founding.
During the festivities, it was placed under the command of vetern officer Admiral Shelby who had servered with distinction during the Borg incursion 2366 onboard the Enterprise-D. The Enterprise-F, along with the rest of the fleet, were also to showcase the new "Fleet Formation" technology. Unfortunately Admiral Shelby would barely survive her injuries while Enterprise was now only further damaged from the battle,
Following the disaster, Enterprise was placed in storage with a manitenance crew from the Corps of Engineers and a security prescense watching over her, the former repairing the ship's physical damage from the event while also continuing work on understanding and removing the damage done to it's computer systems at Fenton 4. Within a year, it had been decided that the USS Titan-A, given it's role in ending the disaster, would be re-christened as the the next successor of the Enterprise line: the Enterprise-G.
For the next seven years, the Enterprise-F remained in limbo. The Corp of Engineers team assigned to the ship, with the aid of Captain's La Forge and Data, were eventually able to isolate and remove the corrupted code of the ship in 2405, however the ship itself had been stripped down of much of it's equipment. While it had been originally planned that she would be placed within the fleet museum, the eruption of the Klingon War and increasing conflict across the known Galaxy caused the admirality to reconsider it's plans for the entire Odyssey line. As resources decreased but technolgy improved for ship capabilities, it was decided that the Odyssey class would be pressed back into service. By 2409, the Enterprise-F was put back into drydock at the San Fransisco fleet yards and would remain there for several months, undergoing a major refit crew placement. This lead to the Enterprise missing out on several key events, including the return of the Borg at the Vega colony and the establishment of Detan's colony of New Romulus for the Romulan Republic. By this point of time, the Enterprise-G was no longer in service and Starfleet Command and the Federation President decided that as such, the Enterprise-F would take back it's original place as flagship of the Federation, feeling that it would a much needed boost for morale.
During the battle to retake Deep Space Nine from the rogue Jem'hadar of the lost "2800", the Enterprise would be assigned a new commanding officer: Captain Va'kel Shon. Shon was a vetern officer, having served aboard Enterprise before her original decommissioning as it's final first officer. Over his career, he had shown exceptional bravey and commitmant to Starfleet's ideals in the face of danger. At the time of the crisis, Shon had been commanding the Defiant class USS Belfast for several years but was forced to evacuate his crew and sacrifice the vessel while fending off a group of the rogue Dominion forces as they attempted to intercept the Founder's leader as she was transferred from Facility 4028 back to the Dominion. It was decided by prominent figures within Starfleet such as Admiral Jorel Quinn and Captain Data that Shon and the crew of the Belfast would best be reassigned to the USS Enterprise, with Shon as it's new captain. While initially reluctant due to to the immense responsibility that he would hold in commanding the flagship of the Federation, Shon would soon accept the position, taking his place in the lineage of the captains of the Enterprise.
With her new crew in place, the Enterprise was sent directly to Deep Space Nine along with a task force to aid the fleet already in the Bajor system as they completing the operation to remove the rogue Jem'hadar from the station. It's arrival turned the tide of the battle and it would save the USS Excalibur from destruction when the ship lost its shields and was taking fire from the Jem'hadar's flagship. Both ships would then destroy the enemy flagship, leaving all remaining rogue Jem'hadar forces to surrender and defer command back to their original commander, Loriss. With the crisis over, Enterprise would stay on station for two weeks at the station overseeing repair efforts to it and the taskforce, as well as filling any remaining crew vaccancies.
The Enterprise would take its first assignment under Captain Shon patrolling the region of space that had been recently claimed as the Romulan Republic and would be responsible in providing aid to the fledgling nation. It remained in this region as efforts to chart the Solanane Dyson sphere were mounted, though was chosen to represent the Federation at the Jenolan Dyson Sphere conference.
Shortly afterwards, Enterprise would hurridly return to Earth to fight back against the suprise attack by the Undine on the world and then later joined with Federation and Romulan forces in defending the Klingon homeworld of Qo'nos against the main Undine's assault. As the battle raged, the Undine brought forth a massive planet-killer bioship from their realm to destroy Qo'nos. Despite attacking the massive weapon, none of the avaialbe firepower was capable of damaging it. It was then that Captain Shon, recalling another incident in which a starship Enterprise faced off aganist a seemingly invinceable planet-killer that he had an idea. Taking command of the Enterprise Aquarius auxillary craft alone, Shon would take the ship down the maw of the weapon and detonate its warp core just as the weappon was about to fire. This action would prove decisive. Being covered by the original USS Voyager and other supporting ships, Shon succeded in his mission and escaped death just in time aboard Voyager, destroying the planet killer utterly and forcing the Undine into retreat, saving the Klingon homeworld. So impressed by Shon's willingness to sacrifice himself, as well as his previous admitance of the Federation's stumblings in handling the Undine threat, the Klingon Empire would declare an end of hostilites against the Federation. It is especially thanks to these actions of the Enterprise and her crew that the Federation and Klingon Empires are once again allies and peace throughout the Milky Way Galaxy has developed, starting first with the offical cessation of the Federation-Klingon war, the reforming of the Khitomer Accords two years later and eventually the creation of the Khitomer Alliance and the recent Galactic Union.
With the outbreak of the Iconian War
Once the Excalibur entered the time portal, followed by Kagran and Sela's ships, Enterprise doubled back to defend the Annorax so as to keep the portal stable. Unfornately, having diverted the Iconian flagship's attention to itself, it would be attacked with a full volley from the fearsome vessel. With almost no time to evade, the Enterprise would recieve half of the enemy's volley, yet this was still a devastating blow, leading to the destruction of almost the entire port half of the saucer, the entire port nacelle, part of the starboard nacelle and the main navigational deflector array and the Aquarius 2. It also left hundreds dead aboard Enterprise, prompting Shon to call for the crew to abandon ship before it was too late. Thankfully however, before Enterprise could be finished off, Excalibur and her escorts returned from the past almost as soon as they had left for it and immediately contacted the enemy flagship, with the Excalibur's Captain revealing the Iconian's sacred "World Heart" to them. This prompted the enemy's forces to cease fire and after negotiationg with their leadership for its return, all Iconian forces left the Sol system, along with all other areas they had conquered or were attacking. The Iconian War had come to a swift end.
Despite the catastrophic damage it sustained from the battle, the Enterprise-F would fly once again. The ship, along with all other damaged vessels from the battle where towed to Utopia Plantia where engineers would begin their immediate reconstruction. Following an evaluation of her extensive damage, it was decided that Enterprise would be refitted into a Yorktown class variant of the Odyessy class, a design which had been recently created based on the repairs and upgrades made to her sister ship the USS Yorktown, that had been implemented after a review of the Odyessy class's overall battle performance.
Once again, Enterprise would make its dramatic debut at Deep Space Nine as the ship, while still on its trail runs and hosting a number of journalists, would divert itself to the Bajor system and join in the battle against the newly emerged Hur'q.
Enterprise would remain at Deep Space Nine for the following weeks, fighting off Hur'q incursions wherever they occured in the sector until it was called along with a task force to defend the Dominion capital world of Empressa as it came under the Hur'q onslaught. Thankfully, this would turn out to be the final battle of the crisis, as Alliance forces, working with Dominion soldiers were able to hold long enough for Dr Bashir to disperse a cure, thanks to the sacrifice of Jem'hadar vetern Dukan'Rex, that provided the Hur'q a much needed enzeme that lifted the insanity they were forced to endure without it. The Hur'q immediately ceased all hostilites upon reciving it.
While the Kligon Civil War raged, Enterprise was ordered to stay out of the conflict, along with all other Federation ships, only defending Federation territory from raiders from either side of the conflict.
The Enterprise would be called upon to defend the Federation however during the Terran Incursion of 2412. During this year, the Terran Empire of the Mirror Universe repeatedly attacked several high-security Federation facilities, including Jupiter Station in the Sol system, in service of a plan devised by their Emperor to obtain control of "the Other", the mirror universe counterpart of the mysterious "V'ger" entity encountered by the original USS Enterprise NCC 1701 in the 2270s. Enterprise would become the flagship of the task force assembled by Admiral Janeway to counter the Empire's incursion and would even lead the fleet into the Mirror Universe itself to attempt to stop the Emperor's plans, destroying his flagship the ISS Acheron. Enterprise would go on to play a key role in ending the threat posed by the Emperor and the Other when the two combined into a single being, crossed over into the Prime universe and attempted to destroy all life in our Galaxy.
Since then, the Enterprise has returned to it's primary mission of exploration.
