Ord Trasi
Ord Trasi is a small, continental world in the Outer Rim, sitting along the hyperspace lane between Mygeeto and Dantooine. Ord Trasi's position at the nexus of two hyperlanes, and its significant deposits of raw minerals across and beneath its landmasses, has led to major growth in recent years.
Geography
Ord Trasi has several major continents divided by large seas. It exists in its solar system's 'Goldilocks zone', and so has a climate relatively similar to Earth's. Much of the planet is covered in dense jungles and forests, set apart by their distinctive black narstone spires; though there are also wider steppes with sparser greenery across the largest continent.History
Ord Trasi was settled by human colonists from the Galactic Core around 1400BBY, and rapidly became a thriving backwater as abundant supplies of various minerals and crystals were found on the planet, including lithium, cobalt and araxium. Around 30 years after its settlement, local colonists drew the attention of Czerka Corporation, who rapidly engineered a takeover of many of the world's most profitable mines. Czerka invested heavily, and by 1300BBY the world had a thriving, industrialised economy, with vast amounts of mineral wealth driving growth and production - under Czerka's direction. During the Republic-Sith Wars, Ord Trasi was occupied by the Sith on several occasions, including during Darth Malak's attack on Dantooine, and then again briefly during Darth Malgus' campaigns. However, during the Interregnum Ord Trasi managed to remain relatively unscathed, courtesy of Czerka's habit of trading with both sides. Later, after the Republican Crusades and the restoration of the Republic, Ord Trasi's resources became a vital resource for the reconstruction of Republic worlds and the Republic military. Despite this, Ord Trasi did not join the Galactic Republic, preferring to trade on arms-length terms.Institutions
Ord Trasi is ostensibly led by a Governor, representative of the people - but this is little more than a legal fiction. While the Governor cuts ribbons and kisses babies, the real power sits in the hands of Ord Trasi's Executive Counsellor, who is appointed by the boards of the thirteen most powerful corporations on Ord Trasi. As it happens, twelve of those thirteen are subsidiaries of Czerka; so their Sector Executive serves a dual role as Ord Trasi's functional leader and manager. This has led to the repeated execution of pro-business and pro-Czerka policies, including near-total environmental deregulation. A small holdout of the descendants of Ord Trasi's original colonists - most of whom own or work for the Ord Trasi Trade and Economic Co-Operative (Holdings), or OTTECH, continue to battle against Czerka's dominance of the planet. However, their successes have diminished in recent years; at Czerka's latest shareholder meeting, they anticipated displacing OTTECH within the next threeyears.Locations of interest
Ord Trasi's capital, Trasimar, is located on the Anamar isthmus between two of these continents, and is the planet's most notable settlement by far. Sitting across a major canal which bridges the two major seas, Trasimar is where most of the materials mined on Ord Trasi are prepared for export. A steady flow of trains, seaships and spacecraft regularly ply Port Trasimar, moving fuel, crystals and ore. A range of other, minor settlements dot the planet's surface, operating as bases for miners, forestry enterprises or smugglers. The spaceport of Elkanis, situated at the heart of the planet's largest continent, is particularly notorious as a trading place for credits, spice and information. A number of ancient temples and dig sites, built by the original human settlers who colonised Ord Trasi, are scattered across its continents; however, many of these have been destroyed by mining ventures unconcerned with destroying ancient artifacts.Environment
A range of flora and fauna make Ord Trasi home. In particular, Ord Trasi's jungles are home to packs of tharaxid which are inclined to attack packs of hunters or workers who veer into the undergrowth, as well as more dangerous dragamids - which from time to time even attack train lines and speeder convoys.
