The Army, Navy, and Starfighter forces of the Grand Republic.
Squad: 6-10 Soldiers
Platoon: 5-10 Squads (50-100 Soldiers)
Company: 2-3 Platoons (150-250 Soldiers)
Battalion: 3-6 Companies (750-1,500 Soldiers)
Regiment: 2-4 Battalions (4,000-6,000 Soldiers)
Division: 3-5 Regiments (20,000-40,000 Soldiers) Divisions were the largest force that can typically be deployed by a fleet, thus the largest unit generally used in operations.
Task Force: 40,000+ Soldiers. Task Forces were temporary groupings of Divisions formed when a single division is inadequate.
Section: The exact role of a Section determined how many ships it contained. Large warships, such as battleships and cruisers, operated in "lines" of 3 to 4 vessels. Smaller craft, such as corvettes, operated in "flotillas" of 6 to 12 vessels. Commanded by the most senior Captain.
Squadron: 3-4 Sections (12-36 Warships, plus support units.) Commanded by a Commodore. Each Section is meant to complement each other, such as a group of escorts providing a defensive screen for larger warships.
Battle Group: 2-4 Squadrons (48-72 Warships, plus support units.) Commanded by a Vice Admiral. A Battle Group was considered to have enough force to take all but the most heavily fortified enemy strongholds.
Fleet: 3-6 Battle Groups (100-300 Warships, plus support units.) Commanded by an Admiral.
Armada: An Armada was an administrative formation representing all forces allocated to a specific theater of war, generally numbering between 1,000 to 5,000 warships plus support units. Commanded by the Fleet Admiral.
