New Imperial Republic

Governed by a reformist faction of former Rebels including Leia Organa and Mon Mothma, the Imperial Republic controls (at least nominally) almost all of the galaxy not claimed by another power; this consists of the Deep Core, Core, and Colonies, along with the bulk of the Inner Rim and Expansion Regions, and large chunks of the Mid and Outer Rims along the Corellian Run and Perlimian Trade Route.

Structure

While the Imperial Republic is in the process of transitioning to a constitutional monarchy model of government, at the moment Leia Organa still holds absolute legal authority as Empress, though she wields it only sparingly, and virtually always in consultation with advisors, experts, and popular representatives.

Culture

Leia's court is made up of three blocs. Any openly hardline old-style Imperials have already made their way to Tarkin or Zsinj, so the right wing consists of conservative nobles, magnates, and bureaucrats who are all quite willing to ease the restrictions on political speech and activity and put Humans and non-Humans on an equal footing, but would rather preserve the autocratic structure of the Empire (and their privileged positions therein). Their opponents on the left are committed republicans, advocating for the abolition on the Imperial throne and the implementation of a democratically elected government. The center, currently dominant, is occupied by those from both wings who are prepared to offer or accept the compromise of a system in which both the throne and the restored legislature have real power to counterbalance the other.

Public Agenda

Leia Organa and Mon Mothma have committed the Imperial Republic to restore the civil and political rights that waned and disappeared under Palpatine's rule, specifically by reconstituting an interim Senate to assist in devising a new fundamental charter for galactic government; many diplomats and negotiators are being sent out into the galaxy, attempting to ensure that the interim Senate will be as representative as possible.   In addition, the Imperial Republic has taken the first steps in a process of reforming and downsizing the military, cancelling all extant capital ship orders that had not yet begun construction, and commissioning the design of an entirely new class – partly to commemorate the anticipated restoration of democracy, and partly to ease the fears of the industries that had been feeding the Imperial war machine.

Assets

The Imperial Republic is, by a narrow margin, the strongest single military power in the galaxy, commanding not only a plurality of the established Imperial military, but also a majority of former Rebel forces, now dubbed "Irregulars". For now, these two military supra-branches exist separately and in parallel, although both Empress and Chancellor have expressed a desire to integrate them at some point.

Imperial Forces

Senate-class Star Destroyer

The exception to the general freeze on new capital ship construction in the Imperial Republic, the proposed Senate-class represents a step toward the integration of the Irregulars into the Imperial Navy, with its increased emphasis on the carrier role and incorporation of Mon Calamari shield technology. In hearkening back to the Clone Wars Venator-class, it also serves as a withdrawal from the Tarkin Doctrine.

TIE/ad Avenger

The TIE Avenger is a multi-purpose starfighter developed from the TIE Advanced x1 flown by Lord Vader at the Battle of Yavin as one of the Empire’s many proposed answers to the T-65 X-wing starfighter; it won out over the competing TIE Defender design on the basis of its lower cost and the ability to be launched from existing TIE racks. However, the Battle of Endor pre-empted any plans to put the craft into large-scale production, leaving the Avenger as a rarity assigned only to the Royal Starfighter Guard and the Imperial Fleet’s most skilled aces.

TIE/lb Liberator

Marginally less capable than even the basic TIE/ln, the Liberator currently exists only as schematics, designed to be cheaply and easily assembled from standard TIE and speeder parts common all over the galaxy, the better for resistance fighters in Tarkin- and Zsinj-controlled territory to construct them in sufficient quantities.

Irregular Forces

MC85 Sphyrna-type Carrier

Meant to supplement the more turbolaser-heavy Star Cruisers (and, now, Star Destroyers), the MC85 Sphyrna-type is a dedicated starfighter carrier. The horizontal hammerhead bow is heavily armored, and each end is capped with a massive sensor/comms blister and a set of five heavy turbolaser blisters. These allow for the support and coordination of starfighter engagements at extreme range, while providing a modicum of built-in long range firepower. The main hangars open on the aft surface of the hammerhead, looking back along the relatively slender main hull and its projecting wings, which are studded with point-defense quad laser cannons.

BTS-Q2 H-Wing Bomber

A further development and refinement of Koensayr's BTS-A2 design, the Q2 corrects for many of its immediate predecessor's shortcomings while retaining many of its strengths. With its oversized engines, more stable handling characteristics, and components shared with the older Y-wing, the Q2 H-wing edges ahead of its main competitor, the B-wing, in speed and maneuverability while being substantially easier to maintain – although its heavy firepower remains more vulnerable to supply disruptions.

R-25 "Lancet" A-Wing Interceptor

A successor to the original prototype R-22 "Spearhead" on which the Irregulars' RZ-1 A-Wings were based, the "Lancet" incorporates many improvements designed to match (and in some cases, exceed) the performance afforded by the Irregulars' modifications. Where the Irregulars sacrificed weight of fire and the protection of a deflector shield to make their A-Wing lighter and faster, the "Lancet" compensates with larger engines, allowing the fighter to not only keep its shield generator, but add two more laser cannons and a pair of droid-assisted turret mountings that can independently track a designated target.

Royal Starfighter Guard

The only formation already integrated, the Royal Starfighter Guard has augmented its TIE Avenger squadrons, Guardian and Shield, with two X-Wing squadrons, Rogue and Bandit. Each squadron is slated for periodic deployment with active duty forces of their respective supra-branches.
