The Final Solution
Military action
The means by which the Republic finally destroyed the Sith Empire and ended the 2nd Great War.
When it became clear that the Republic was going to win the war, the Sith Empire offered to negotiate terms of surrender. After having been betrayed during peace talks on three previous occasions, the Republic refused to even meet with the Empire for talks, and instead enacted what was termed The Final Solution.
The Final Solution was highly controversial, and many still argue that it violated the Republic constitution. In the end, many compromises and back door deals were needed to get the required Super-Majority in the Senate, and additional concessions had to be made to get endorsement from the Jedi Council.
The Terms of the Final Solution were broadcast across the Galaxy and into the Empire via subspace. No negotiations were ever held, and no individual, or group was able to negotiate an exception. The key details were:
- Every Orbital facility of any kind in Imperial Space would be destroyed.
- The capital city of every planet in the Imperial core worlds would be destroyed via orbital bombardment. Also, every city on the capital world of Dromund Kaas would be destroyed from orbit. Any city marked for destruction would be given two weeks to evacuate.
- Any major industrial centers on any planet in Imperial space would be destroyed (except those worlds which had once been part of the Republic). Again, Any neighborhood marked for destruction would be given two weeks to evacuate.
- Every Imperial warship would be either seized by the Republic, or Destroyed.
- The Sith would be declared an illegal organization, all Sith would be captured and imprisoned or executed.
- All other members of the Empire's military, intelligence, or government would be pardoned and released so long as they ceased all future efforts against the Republic.
- The Republic would not claim any part of the former Imperial territory, nor would any republic organizations seek to gain control over the former imperial territories. The region would be allowed to rebuild itself as it saw fit (Noted exception: the planet Korriban, turned over to The Jedi Order).
While The Empire managed to hold out for a few more weeks, mass desertions in response to the Final Solution ultimately proved to be the last nail in the Empire's coffin. The last transmission from the Dark Council was to declare a 'Rule-of-Two', a command to all Sith to take a single apprentice and flee so as to ensure that the Sith Order would survive, and someday, rebuild.
