Law Enforcement of the Iarta System

The Law Enforcement of the Iarta System are the members of a country's government that are tasked with enforcing their respective country's laws through means of discovering, deterring, rehabilitating or punishing individuals who violate them in society. Law enforcement in the system have three primary branches, police, court and corrections. These three primary branches often times operate independently or cooperate as a collective with each other through practices such as record sharing.   Law enforcement in the Iarta System seek to protect law abiding citizens from violent offenders through punishment. On the opposite spectrum, governments also offer a plethora of program for non-violent offenders to discourage them from carrying out further offenses or possible violent offenses. Programs such as rehabilitation, therapy, parole and probation are used by law enforcement agencies to deter further non-violent offenses from individuals.   Modern day law enforcement agencies refer to it's own member with terms such as peace officer or law enforcement officer, LEO for short. These terms describe anyone sworn in to uphold legislative law with police power and authority.

Law Enforcement Agencies

A majority of law enforcement is conducted by a respective country's agencies, the most common being police. Under the police branch of law enforcement, there are three separate branches for this field alone. The three fields being municipality, territorial and federal. Municipality agency's jurisdiction lies within the local area of the agency such as a settlement or county. Territorial agencies operate within a specific country's region or state as it's referred to be United Scionia and United Provinces of Keleniya. Federal agency jurisdiction lies within the entirety of a country's borders.   These branches of police agencies are often limited to their own jurisdiction however in certain cases another agency's jurisdiction may overlap with another organization; for example, in the Republic of North Damalay, each territory has it's own regionwide law but the Federal Protection Bureau is able to act against certain types of crimes, allowing them to takeover investigations or operations. Certain organization such as the military also have their own special law enforcement agencies to deal with issues or crimes within their areas of operation in the form of military police.   Some agencies may choose to enforce the law through autonomous means such as police droids or depend on other organizations to assist them in upholding the law. The governing body of the agencies may choose to either dissolve or consolidate operations. These choices are dictated by a variety of factors such as police reformation, mass resignation, lack of population in a certain area or simply lack of funding. Thankfully for a large majority of law enforcement agencies, the Iarta System Armed Alliance, while they deal with protecting a country's integrity through military means; they do provide many agencies primarily on the region and local level with the necessary funding to maintain or improve their operations.   Law enforcement officers of each agency are dominantly served by males both human and alien however female officers can still be seen performing their duty and the number of female recruits for police academies have been on the rise.
