… and just like that, it stopped.

An assault, especially one this big, doesn’t just ‘stop’. There isn’t some big switch to turn them off and on. Communication delays, heat of the moment in a fight, there are dozens of things that make them just drag out for hours sometimes.

But this one? It just… stopped.

It happened about the same time as Vanya, So’zen, Captain Kolene, and Davish rescued Rico, Goss, and their two trainees. I mean, I sensed what was really happening down there. Not sure anyone else did. Well, except for Commander Ysadora. Vanya.

That thing Rico picked up isn’t some holocron Force artifact. No, it’s weird tech. But someone corrupted part of that Force Nexus down there. The only reason I can think of is that they, whoever ‘they’ were, didn’t want anyone getting that sphere tech thing.

Doc’s checking Rico and Goss over. Especially Rico. The sphere went to some of Chancellor Kanter’s outlaw tech mates. I really need to check on the Commander. The Nexus sensed the Dark Side has infected her and so was testing her. Hicks hasn’t told me everything about Nar Shaddaa, just that it was rough on everyone. Especially the Jedi. Vanya probably is overdue for some mental R&R.

But Captain Kolene, Vanya, So’Zen, Davish, they all took care of the cyborged worms and insects up north. Vance, Madam Sabine, and that Mentat Reese, made sure the bugs didn’t kidnap Chancellor Kanter. Not without a fight that almost took out the Chancellor’s building. I’m not sure there isn’t a window that wasn’t shot out or knocked out.

They also brought down several of the bugs. Doc already has said they’re altered. Told me in private they’ve been altered with Sith Alchemy. So they’re bio-mechanoids. Lovely. Why is it everything the Sith Order makes is lethal? They need a hobby. Like reading books. Finger knitting. Something.

Then there were the Bloodsmith Raiders hitting Port Etmar and elsewhere. When the bugs took off, Rico and his tech sphere got hauled out of that ruin, they pulled back as well. I haven’t told anyone this, but it makes zero sense. Unless it was all a bloody distraction.

Because the Bloodsmiths were winning.

The Bloodsmith Raiders could’ve taken down the Freedworlds’ defenses in about another standard hour or so. But they pulled out.

Maybe it was those giant droid things. Four of them, almost lizard-man like and a good 6 or 7 meters tall. Huge. Well, not droids really. That new guy that came in with the Commander and the others. Salbur. He figured it out.

Those four giant droids are actually vehicles. A pilot sits inside, ‘wearing’ one like power armor. Not only that, the pilot can have the thing transform into a starfighter. Sleek looking thing. I’ve never seen a profile like that before. I plan on seeing if Madam Sabine or even Kal Holst have a little time. They might know something about it.

The worst is that all battles, no matter how short, leave scars. This one left them everywhere. Even with the Jedi. Commander Ysadora… Vanya… blows it all off in her usual way. A swagger or a funny comment. Davish told me on the backchannel that she’s really strained. Needs some quiet time to meditate and ‘feel the sunrise’ as he put it.

I get it. A lot of my clone brothers and sisters get that way sometimes.

Then there’s So’zen. Frell. He asked the Force something about some crystal he found and it turned his mind into Naboo Cheese. That kind with all the holes in it. Thinks he’s some archeology professor now.

This is a serious mess. But we survived the attack. The Captain, Commanders and all saved Chancellor Kanter, found the lost troopers, and four… transforming walkers? Variable form walkers? Mechs? Varitechs? Variwalkers. Variwalkers works. Those will come in handy once there are four pilots who get used to using them… and maybe the Freedworlds techs figure out how to duplicate them.

I sense something was taken from us during the assault. That Almon D’Joy didn’t get everything he wanted, but he got away with something. That gives me a bad feeling.

Then there was the next morning. Chancellor Kanter rushed out with Vance and the others in tow. She visited the battle sites. Helped clean up what she could. Got in there and got her hands dirty as it goes.

After that, this morning, she gave a speech. She got talked into it. That much was obvious. But it was sure something. I swear the Chancellor’s speech echoed in the Force.

Something’s started here on Chalcedon. Something important. I just can’t see where it will wind up. "Always emotional the future" as I’ve overheard Master Yoda say a few times.

I don’t know if anyone will remember, or care, what got said. But I uplinked the Chancellor’s speech here, just in case.
