Kunthar

The most unusual of Cathar tribes, the Kunthar are known for medical knowledge, musical aptitude and a talent at using the Force - they refer to it as "Ancestor's Wind" or just the "Wind".
Oddly enough, they are one Cathar tribe that has the highest occurrence of Force sensitives ever observed. Some members of the tribe have gone on to join orders such as the Jedi Order, Catali, Sith Order, or the more recent orders such as the Qo'shasot.

Like most Cathar tribes - with the exception of the Dienar - the Kunthar have a oral tradition of recording history that supports their written knowledge. This is most readily seen in the medical knowledge.
Aside from the Dienar, the Kunthar have one of the most detail medical knowledge of medical herbs and practices. Some of these rival modern bacta medical techniques.
Kunthar are required at a young age to learn basic 'herbal' first aid through oral traditions and stories. Some of these stories are told best using 'sand tales' or 'sand paintings'. As a result, a member of the Kunthar tribe can be identified as they tend to carry a bag or bags of sand vials with them to be able to tell their stories when needed.

Coming of Age Rites

While all Cathar observe the Blood Hunt as a coming of age ritual, the Kunthar have an additional one. They also have what they call the "Sand Talker Hunt". There, the young Cathar must tell three stories from Cathar history or three medicinal treatments all using sand paintings. They are not allowed to speak vocally or use sign language. They are only allowed to communicate through the sand painting to the tribal elders who - at that time - would be the 'learners' in this test.
