Eleanor Tempest

Guardian of the Tome, Priest of the Wolf

Eleanor Jane Tempest

"The guarded nature of a follower of the Wolf is a hard one to break. Especially when, like their patron, they have something to protect. Whether that be a loved one, a fellow follower of the Nisurach Demons, a priceless demonic artifact, or even the knowledge gathered by centuries of past cultists, a follower of the Wolf will guard each with dilligence, and even their very life."
Eleanor Tempest is the Grand Priest of Oviafirum

Eleanor also intends to one day go up against the Church of the Lightbearer, exposing their lies and revealing the truth.

Social

Social Aptitude

To those who know her, Eleanor is very well mannered, but mostly cold and indifferent. She rarely shows more emotion on her face than a slight smile or slight frown. She mostly remains alone, becoming slightly hostile to most that try to become close with her. Most assume this is out of fear of her identity becoming known by the hunters, but the few people who she is close with know this is mostly because of her generally introverted nature.

History

Eleanor was born in 3103 as an asymptomatic vampire. Her parents were very distant towards her, and so, copying the stories she had heard about the vampire attacks, she drained her parents, which awakened her taste for blood, and knowledge of her own hidden vampiric nature. The Holy Vampire Hunters came to investigate, and since she lacked fangs, Eleanor was dismissed as a potential suspect. She was sent to an orphanage, where she tested more methods of draining people on the other children there. Eleanor was smart about it, however, and would often bite herself to avoid suspicion.

When the Holy Vampire Hunters failed to solve the mystery of the vampire attacks in the orphanage, non-church vampire hunters were called in to take over the investigation. being less proud and stubborn than the church's hunters, the rival cullers would treat everyone as a suspect, regardless of if they had fangs or not. Eventually, they worked out that the culprit must've been Eleanor, but by the time they had reached this conclusion, she was already gone. Eleanor wandered the streets for the night. In the dark alleys, she managed to find and drain someone. She was found sitting next to the body of her victim by an old vampire. This vampire was a member of the previous Order of the Nisurach Circle, and he offered her shelter in one of the order's buildings, knowing the danger of having a lost vampiric child wandering the streets of Starfell.
When she arrived at the small alley house, she and her temporary guardian were greeted by the other members, many of whom were also vampires. She stayed hidden away in this house, being taken care of by the cultists who came to meet. The vampires among them taught her common customs, teaching her not to feed on innocents, instead satisfying her need for blood with that from raw, red meat. As she grew older, they eventually let her into the Order's meetings. She became a follower of Oviafirum, and was always present at rituals and ceremonies to greet new followers of The Wolf.
You are a follower of the Wolf, are you not? You have proven to us time and time again that you will guard your people with your life! Now, I ask you to do the same with our knowledge, our ceremonies, our history- The future of the Order is in your hands. Do not fail us, please.

During the The War on Darkness, Eleanor fought fiercely, helping plan the attacks and protecting the other cultists. But the power of the Church's forces was overwhelming, and as they culled more and more of their members, the Order eventually fell. The Church executed most members, and stole or burned anything they could find that contained demonic material. Fearing the end of the Order's knowledge, the Grand Priest gave the last remaining copy of the Circle’s Tome to Eleanor, asking her to keep it safe until the Order could be formed once more. This Priest was later captured by the Church and publically executed, marking the defeat of the cultists. Eleanor fled with the book, finding a new purpose for herself as Guardian of the Tome.
She hid in the shadows of Starfell for years, feeding off of pig's blood and the occasional hunter that crossed her path. 86 years later, she was approached by an eccentric historian, who had recently converted to demonolatry. Eleanor saw the connections he had and his access to the demonic materials the church had seized, and she this as a perfect opportunity to reclaim what had been stolen, to rebirth the Order. She agreed to show him the forbidden truth of the demons in return for his help to lead the Order. She would remain in the shadows, guiding his leadership while still protecting the tome with her life. The historian agreed, and the Order was born once more.
For years I've guarded this book, kept these secrets alive and hidden, but I see something in you... Now is the time for these secrets to spread, just like the fires of your patron."
