The Holy Vampire Hunters
The Holy Vampire Hunters are an elite force dedicated to the culling and capture of vampires. Their priority is with born-vampires, who receive the most merciless treatment, whereas turned-vampires are often taken to asylums. They are also responsible for ridding Starfell of 'heretics', which are humans with an interest or desire to become a vampire, or members of cults "threatening the will of The Lightbearer". The heretics are treated similar to turned vampires, though often slightly more scrutinised and more likely to be executed.
This branch of Vampire Hunters is controlled by the Church of the Lightbearer . Members of this branch are seen as extensions of Viserinm's will against darkness.
Composition
Equipment
Hunters wear Lightbearer's Amulets as part of their uniform, and carry small vials of garlic juice as well. Some even carry whole cloves of garlic, often in the form of necklaces, or hung from their belt.
Weaponry
The Holy Vampire Hunters carry 3 weapons on them; A hidden dagger, a silver sabre, and a wooden sabre. The dagger is for emergency use, the sabre for standard combat, and the wooden sabre for the culling of a vampire.
Vehicles
Most Holy Vampire Hunters patrol the city on foot, if there are higher ranking hunters leading the patrol, they will often ride on horseback on the main road. When a battalion is dispatched for an emergency, all of the hunters ride on horses to the location, this aids in the case of a chase, especially against a sprint vampire.
Logistics
Recruitment
The branch of Vampire Hunters used by the church are required to be women, as they are seen as closer to The Holy Lightbearer and more able to understand and carry out her will. Men who wish to become vampire hunters are often encouraged by family to join the regular police force, or become units for other church affiliated vampire hunters.
For the average woman, it is required to have at least a year in service as either a member of the Church's clergy, or in an official police force or military force. In special cases, women who are exceedingly good at combat or hunting can be recommended to join the hunters without having to complete the a year of service.

History
Vampire Hunters, especially the church's branch, weren't always a specialised unit. Many years back, a bounty was placed over the heads of all vampires, and so many individuals more experienced in combat or hunting wanted to try their hand at a more dangerous target to claim a bigger reward. As vampire hunting became more common, the Church of the Lightbearer started hiring these bounty hunters as full time vampire hunters, not only keeping the towns and villages clean of "demons" but also enforcing their religion and way of worship, labelling anyone who practiced their faith differently, or those of different faiths, heretics and demonic sympathisers. As this position became more popular, the church founded their own branch separate from the hunters they hired in the past, this branch was trained to an elite level using specialised equipment provided by the church.
